Know More about this tour

Led by a local guide, this 3-hour San Francisco bike tour is a great sightseeing activity for all ages and biking levels. Youll follow a mostly flat route along San Francisco Bays scenic northern waterfront before crossing the Golden Gate Bridge.

Depart in the morning or afternoon from Fishermans Wharf, where your guide outfits you with a proper bike, helmet and any necessary equipment for the ride. Then hop on your bicycle and pedal to nearby Aquatic Park Cove, part of the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park.

Cycle down the pier and snap pics of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island before moving on to Fort Mason Center. The buildings of this former US Army post, a National Historic Landmark, are now used as a cultural and educational complex.

From here, pedal up a steep but short path that flattens out toward the Marina Green, located in the Marina District. While you cycle past opulent homes, enjoy a scenic panorama that includes the Palace of Fine Arts, Angel Island and the bridge as your backdrop.

Arriving at Crissy Field, also part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, glimpse shorebirds inside the restored marsh. From Fort Point, gaze up at the red towers of the bridge and prepare to cross the 3.6-mile (5.8-km) route, which follows a wide path for bicycles. Youll be rewarded on the other side at Vista Point, including views of the city skyline.

At the end of your guided tour you can continue your biking adventure at your own pace for the rest of the day. You'll be provided with a cycle path map to help guide you around San Francisco and nearby coastal areas, including the picturesque town of Sausalito renowned for its wide selection of restaurants and cafes, perfect for when hunger kicks in.

For a more challenging bike ride, follow the recommended route on the map and head up to the Marin Headlands. If city biking is your forte, use a ferry ticket for your return to San Francisco, where you can follow the map and continue to explore the city. Points of interest include the Presidio, Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach.

  • Really fun way to see northern SF, the Golden Gate bridge and even Sausalito. The guides made sure that all of us bikers stayed on track and didn't get lost. We got to see a lot of off the beaten track sights and stopped for great views along the way. I wish there was more time for the guides to tell us more about SF and the significance of certain areas and places. Still well worth the experience for half a day!

  • Our tour guide Dan, he was great! He was so patient with us considering that most of us are not a pro-cyclist. He stopped and explained all the land marks in detailed.

Highly recommended if you have the interest with spending almost 1 full day out door on your own, cycling and enjoying the beautiful San Francisco. Also, better to purchase the return ferry ticket from the bike tour provider in advanced rather than getting the ticket at the ferry terminal unless you have a Clipper pass card purchased beforehand.

  • Our tour was great except for one thing -- my son got a flat tire at the end of the bridge. The guide said he would fix it for us in Sausalito which he tried to do then realized he forgot a needle to pump up the tire AFTER we had already tipped him 20. He left a pump with us so we could pump up the old tire which we had to do 4 times on the way back. Luckily we had paid for the ferry ride back but we still had to pump the tire a few times before heading straight back to the bike shop. We would have liked to use the bikes for longer but with the flat it took the air out of the rest of us.

  • A good solid bike tour- group was a bit big if you ask me. Someone fell off and it was hard to get the guide's attention as they were so far in front. It was perfectly fine but I would have preferred a little more intimacy.

  • Trainer was really good and patient.

However, there were no clear instructions about the exact ferry to board. So I boarded the ferry to Ferry building instead of Fisherman's wharf.

  • Fun! Great views and route

  • Well organised and enjoyable. A must do!

  • excellent

  • This was a really good tour! It allowed us to see a lot of the city! The price allows you to hold onto the bikes for 24 hours, so even after the tour is over, you can ride around wherever you want. One negative of our tour was the group size. It was far too big for one tour guide. It seemed like we were always waiting on people to catch up. One other bit of advice...once you get to Sausilito, you can take a ferry back. But be warned, you can wait as long as a couple hours in line just to get on a ferry. Instead, you can either ride back over the Golden Gate or take an hour and a half ride to Tibauron to catch a ferry. This is what my wife and I did and we were glad we did, despite being exhausted. We got to see more of the area without wasting time in line.

  • This biking tour was really very enjoyable and our guide was fantastic. We were only a few people and we had fantastic views, got good tips and enjoyed biking during daytime in hands of his good guidance with security. Sausalito is a nice small village on the other side, well worth to visit, we had a wonderful lunch and took the last ferry back with our bikes. Very much recommended, we visited October 2016.
