Know More about this tour

Led by a local guide, this 3-hour San Francisco bike tour is a great sightseeing activity for all ages and biking levels. You’ll follow a mostly flat route along San Francisco Bay’s scenic northern waterfront before crossing the Golden Gate Bridge.

Depart in the morning or afternoon from Fisherman’s Wharf, where your guide outfits you with a proper bike, helmet and any necessary equipment for the ride. Then hop on your bicycle and pedal to nearby Aquatic Park Cove, part of the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park.

Cycle down the pier and snap pics of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island before moving on to Fort Mason Center. The buildings of this former US Army post, a National Historic Landmark, are now used as a cultural and educational complex.

From here, pedal up a steep but short path that flattens out toward the Marina Green, located in the Marina District. While you cycle past opulent homes, enjoy a scenic panorama that includes the Palace of Fine Arts, Angel Island and the bridge as your backdrop.

Arriving at Crissy Field, also part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, glimpse shorebirds inside the restored marsh. From Fort Point, gaze up at the red towers of the bridge and prepare to cross the 3.6-mile (5.8-km) route, which follows a wide path for bicycles. You’ll be rewarded on the other side at Vista Point, including views of the city skyline.

At the end of your guided tour you can continue your biking adventure at your own pace for the rest of the day. You'll be provided with a cycle path map to help guide you around San Francisco and nearby coastal areas, including the picturesque town of Sausalito — renowned for its wide selection of restaurants and cafes, perfect for when hunger kicks in.

For a more challenging bike ride, follow the recommended route on the map and head up to the Marin Headlands. If city biking is your forte, use a ferry ticket for your return to San Francisco, where you can follow the map and continue to explore the city. Points of interest include the Presidio, Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach.

  • So much fun!! Leisure bike ride for the whole family. There are a few steep hills but you can walk up with the bike up. Wouldn’t recommend for the elderly. The views are spectacular and our guide was very knowledgeable. Enjoyed riding across the bridge, bay and into the adorable saulsalito. Loved it

  • Very good tour which takes you cycling across the amazing Golden Gate Bridge. I personally loved cycling the bridge so much that I cycled both ways. It's quite a hill back out of Sausalito but if you take it slowly, it's not actually that bad. Reversing the route on your own is not too difficult as you mostly cycle by the coast, but do try to memorise the part just after the bridge on the Sausalito side as this will help when you're trying to get back onto the road that leads to the cycleway on the bridge. In addition to the ferry, you can also take a bus back to San Fran and put your bike on the front of the bus. I wanted to take this option to avoid the hill, but unfortunately the bus does not stop before the bridge so did not meet my need to cycle the bridge back. So go on, go for it, cycle back - it's worth it! Whilst a great tour, it was more about the cycling than learning lots about San Fransisco, and it finished after 2.5 hours when advertised as 3. However, I really felt the guide took care of us to ensure we cycled safely and kept as a group.

  • There were 12 of us and the tour left without us since we were 20 minutes late. We did it on our own however my helmet was never fitted properly and kept coming off the entire time and I wasn't the only rider having that issue. They were just trying to get us on the ride instead of really helping each and everyone of us. They wanted us to catch up with the guide which we never did. We also had a bike chain come off in the middle of the ride. I would never use them again. Thank God we had an experienced rider with us and she lead the way perfectly!

  • Although this tour takes you to several vista points the highlight is of course the crossing of The Golden Gate.
I'd recommend taking this tour in the morning. This leaves you more time in Sausalito. Be aware that the queue for the ferry can be long. you can go for an electrical bike also.

  • It was good except for the size of the group which was too large and the process of turning in our bikes. The tour guide gave incorrect information of where to turn the bike in to us and another couple. The company was less than helpful in resolving and even rude. We wasted over an hour of our vacation time dealing with this issue. We will never use this company again

  • This trip was by far the best bridge bike tour! This was reinsured when we cycled past numerous other bike tours that looked somewhat dull.
Robert our tour guild was amazing and definitely made it!

  • A really great experience- a few hills cycle up- which are ok if you are reasonably fit- recommend to get the ferry back.

  • Definitely recommend taking the earlier version of this tour. Mornings have less traffic. Be careful on the road headed down to Sausalito. It is busy road and curvy. Be careful if traveling with children. We had fantastic photo ops albeit, with helmut hair - but still great!.

Highly recommend taking the ferry back towards financial district and take advantage of the all day bike rental. Explore on your own.

One of our fellow biker's bike got a flat tire mid way across the Golden State Bridge. This made the whole group wait for at least 40 minutes before our guide came back to our meeting place at the end of the bridge. Flat tires happen all the time, but it was not OK for our guide to keep us waiting that long. The biker involved or a member of their family of 4 could have come to let us know what had happened. or perhaps the guide could have carried bike to meeting place. When we finally saw the guide, he told us that we could go on our own or wait another 20 minutes for the bike to be fixed. Poor training in a difficult situation from this company.

Despite the hiccup, I recommend doing a bike tour of the city.

  • This was a lot of fun! Our guide was very informative and made sure to stop periodically to let the whole group catch up. Be prepared for 2-3 more challenging hills, though most of the ride was flat or downhill. If you are planning to take the ferry back from Sausalito, be sure to buy your ferry ticket when you rent your bike and pay close attention to the ferry schedules. It's a bit chaotic bringing your bike back on the ferry lots of people so just be prepared to be patient and enjoy the beautiful scenery. If you plan to ride the bike back instead of taking the ferry, just know that's on your own and it's a lot of uphill. If you're not familiar with the city and haven't ridden across the Golden Gate, this is a great way to do it!

  • A good time for a family of four. Our guide, can't remember his name, he was born in the Chech Republic was informative and good natured. Nice guy and cared about the riders - so faster than the others. Parts of the ride were hard but it was only for a few minutes. Well worth the price if you want a unique opportunity to ride across the Golden Gate Bridge -this is t he one to take. We also kept our bikes and ferried them across back to Fisherman's Warfe. Check the schedule, timing is tricky, we lucked out.
