Know More about this tour

Travel from Porto, Portugal, over the border to northwestern Spain to walk in the footsteps of pilgrims and discover the Gothic and Baroque glory of the world-renowned cathedral in the city of Santiago de Compostela.

Your guided visit reveals why this is one of the world's most famous cathedrals, filled with Romanesque sculptures, multi-tiered bell towers, porticoes, cloisters, and portals. See and experience the highlights of the cathedral's breathtaking interior, including the lofty barrel-vaulted nave, the air thick with heady incense, the golden altar and the crypt housing St James remains.

Have free time to have a traditional lunch of octopus or seafood in Santiago (own expense) and explore Santiago's UNESCO World-Heritage-listed old town.

After your visit to Santiago de Compostela, get back in your air-conditioned coach and travel to Valena do Minho, a historical village in the north of Portugal, located on the border between Portugal and Spain.

Take time to explore this great city with its historical essence before returning to Porto, where your day trip concludes.

Our tour guide Sylvia was excellent. She was very knowledgeable in the history of the area and was pleasant to talk to. The journey from Porto to Santiago was beautiful. The cathedral itself was amazingly beautiful and it’s enormity was enjoyable. Overall excellent experience due to Sylvia.

Daniel Moro is a fabulous host. He made the long drive to Campostela interesting and informative. He managed our time there so efficiently and connected all historically and culturally. Everything we could have wanted in a tour host and more!!! Get him if you can!

Mario was a funny and interesting tour guide who kept us entertained on a long drive. Santiago de Compostela was wonderful with charm and history. Valenca is worth a day trip of its own.

Marco was a good driver (as bikers generally are) and a great guide. I enjoyed talking motorcycles with him. We took a scenic route and crossed the border back into Portugal from Spain on the old bridge back from before the time of the EU. Marco added interesting commentary and went out of his way to enhance the experience with suggestions, commentary, water, and extra mussels at lunch!

The Driver was nice , the lunch was great however there was no guide. We signed up for a guided tour, when we got to Santiago the driver gave us a map and said have fun. We got lost , wasted time and did not know what we were looking at, we went on Eight tours in Portugal this was the worst.

The tour promptly started at the time and place agreed. Our tour guide Martin was very knowledgeable. During the drive to Santiago de Compostela he pointed out sites of interests and shared its history. En route we stopped at a resting area where we were able to buy something to eat and drink. Upon arrival in Santiago, we had about an hour to explore on our own however, a map was provided. Although the town is pretty small so it’s hard to get lost. Afterwards we met with the group for lunch at a tapas restaurant. I thought it was great! There were a variety of tapas such as mussels, croquetas, tortilla de patatas, and chicken to name a few. Of course, to drink we had the option or red or white wine, water and to finish off, dessert with coffee. Overall, this was a great experience. It is definitely worth it!
