Know More about this tour

Your coach will collect you from your central Istanbul hotel around 8:30am for the hour-or-so's drive to Darica Zoo. This conservation center is home to around 200 different species of animal, hundreds of different types of plants, an aquarium, and a petting zoo.

Next, you'll drive an hour to Sapanca Lake, where you can enjoy a relaxing stroll along its scenic shores and admire the villages and mountains reflected in its fresh waters. Then explore the pretty lakeside village of Masukiye, where you'll enjoy a traditional Turkish lunch under a canopy of trees beside a waterfall.

After viewing the waterfall up close, drive up Mount Kartepe, which is a ski resort in winter time, to enjoy stunning views across Lake sapanca. You can choose to ride the chair-lift to the peak of the mountain (additional charge). You'll get back on the coach around 6pm to return to Istanbul, arriving back at your hotel around 8:30pm.

I'm sorry to give such a low review as the tour guide did his very best, but this trip simply wasn't worth the long drive from Istanbul. The first stop one hour away is a zoo, which is no different to any zoo in one's home country. The second stop another hour away is a lake, which is is no different to any other lake and not particularly special. There are a few shops that line it, which are nothing special. You then have an OK lunch which is by the waterfalls in the picture. The picture is misleading in that this is just one view most of the place is filled with huts and other buildings rather than natural beauty. You then go to Kartepe where you don't actually hike to the top you have to pay 150 Turkish Lira to rent a Jeep to drive to the top, but the view from the top is nothing special. On the way back, we spent an hour stopping off at a Western shopping mall which was nothing special and certainly not a Turkish experience.
Overall, I felt I got zero Turkish experience in the tour. The description read as if it would be immersion in the Turkish countryside and scenery, but you spend most of your time on the bus. The lake is just a lake, nothing special, and the waterfall looks far less idyllic than the picture due to all the buildings. I learned afterwards that the tour is mainly targeted at Middle Easterners who do not have access to lakes, waterfalls, and zoos. For them, the tour is probably very good. For westerners who are used to seeing these things, I'm afraid I would not recommend the tour, since this is no different to what we have back home, and would recommend other tours which are much more Turkish.
