Know More about this tour

Make your way to either the entrance of the Roman Forum or Colosseum and walk right in between 8:30am and 3pm. Your skip-the-line priority access ticket is tailored for travelers who prefer to explore ancient Rome alone rather than take a tour. Please remember to bring a map, an app, or a good guidebook because there is plenty to see and learn. Your walking tour has no time limits and no fixed itinerary; thus, you will not miss anything in ancient Rome or be tied to particular areas.

This ticket-only service is self-guided. The Roman Forum, Colosseum and Palatine Hill areas close at approximately 6pm.

The self-guided theme continues in the Vatican Museums with Rome's first ever quest tour! This, "The Vatican Quest", covers so much more ground than what other tourists see and hear about on regular guided small group tours. Our Vatican quest points out little-known gems and nuggets in paintings and sculptures, then asks and answers questions which will both amaze and astound! It's the future of tourism in Rome, the days of following the crowd are well and truly over!

  • Great experience

  • Priority access ticket was very useful. No time was wasted in buying the entrance tickets.

  • The Colosseum is great to see and experience. One giant bit of advice, especially for those who've not used Viator. When I reserved the tickets, I soon received an email with a tab to 'print vouchers,' which I did. I then had a 2-page printout containing an image of what looked to be a voucher that contained confirmation numbers, etc., along with a page of details about the tour address, etc.. When we arrived at the Colosseum, we were told that the printout was not acceptable and that we needed to have some other form of voucher to enter. We were forced, in 105 degree heat, to find some place with an Wifi connection and then furiously browse emails going back weeks to find follow-up emails with a 'real' voucher. We finally did, and were able to enter. Later, we checked the original email and saw a sentence buried inside all the details saying that a second email would be sent with the 'real' voucher. A tip for Viator: In cases like this, put this information in giant letters at the very top of the initial email. The gray-colored box with what looked to be all the information needed fooled me into thinking ti was all I needed to enter the Colosseum. A great tour but a royal hassle to start.

  • Horrible. This is a scam. I paid 138 for the voucher, which is not accepted anywhere at the colosseum entrance, Roman Forum, or Palatine hill. I was told that Viator is not affiliated with them,, and the voucher can not be used there. I called When in Rome tours, as instructed on the voucher. They told me that the couldn'd help me. After I complained, they told me that they would email the ticket again, which they did not do. This is criminal- Viator is selling fraudulent tickets. This was a terrible experience for my children, as we then had to wait in 90 degree heat for over an hour, and pay for new tickets. Viator is a criminal organization, and should be shut down

  • What a fiasco. I printed off the voucher as instructed in the email and went along to the Colosseum only to be told this wasn't the correct paperwork. After spending an hour looking through emails and downloading the app I couldn't find any other voucher. I telephoned the number on the paperwork only to be told that they weren't able to help as they weren't Viator! I asked several officials who advised that there should be details of a meeting point but surprise surprise there was nothing. in the end I bought some more tickets. One man said to me that we had booked with the wrong company - that could not be more true. I am very disappointed to be over 100 out of pocket. Of course contacting Viator now is next to impossible. My advise would be not to book before you go - the queues aren't as bad as you are led to believe.

  • Colosseum not to be missed, amazing to see how they constructed so many large buildings with little resources available in way of tools etc which we take for granted. Influence from Egyptians can be seen throughout the Roman architecture. The Vatican Museum is also something not to be missed as the paintings and architecture are beautiful, however allow plenty of time to visit 2-3 hours and recommended not to be done if weather is very hot as it does get very busy and claustrophobic. You also need to be at the meeting point at least 15mins before your allocated time.

  • We booked for Self-Guided Priority Access Colosseum Ticket and Free Self-Guided Vatican Quest Tour. This was a disappointing experience. At the Viator booking website it was indicated that the number of tickets available for a visit to the Colosseum was low, actually there were no tickets available for the visit to the Colosseum only. The only thing I could do was buying a skip the line ticket which included Free Self-Guided Vatican Quest Tour. My perception was that this included a visit to the Vatican as the price for the tickets was high 177 euro for 2 adults, 4 children 18j. Arriving at the Colosseum, we did find out that kids 18y can enter for free and the price for adults is 18 euro pp. That means that we payed 177 euro instead of 36, and this is also the reason why we were convinced that the visit to the Vatican was included. For future trip, I would advise to use the excellent services offered by the Institutions like Colosseum/Vatican themselves, as they perform very well and long waiting lines are not representative for long waiting times. We will NEVER again book via Viator.

  • As instructed I printed out my voucher for 4, myself and my son and his two friends.
Once at the colosseum we were told the voucher was no good, we needed tickets..where were our tickets?
I tried to ring the viator contact but repeatedly got an engaged tone
Eventually as time was running out I had to purchase 4 tickets ..on returning home it seems almost impossible to contact viator as they don't appear to have either a phone number or email address! All around lousy customer service and a very disappointing experience and I'm out of pocket!
    Screw you viator!
