Know More about this tour

Make your way to either the entrance of the Roman Forum or Colosseum and walk right in between 8:30am and 3pm. Your skip-the-line priority access ticket is tailored for travelers who prefer to explore ancient Rome alone rather than take a tour. Please remember to bring a map, an app, or a good guidebook because there is plenty to see and learn. Your walking tour has no time limits and no fixed itinerary; thus, you will not miss anything in ancient Rome or be tied to particular areas.

This ticket-only service is self-guided. The Roman Forum, Colosseum and Palatine Hill areas close at approximately 6pm.

The self-guided theme continues in the Vatican Museums with Rome's first ever quest tour! This, "The Vatican Quest", covers so much more ground than what other tourists see and hear about on regular guided small group tours. Our Vatican quest points out little-known gems and nuggets in paintings and sculptures, then asks and answers questions which will both amaze and astound! It's the future of tourism in Rome, the days of following the crowd are well and truly over!

  • walked in within 5mins, definetly worth skipping the long lines.

  • The Colosseum itself is great but finding where we were to gain access was a real pain. It seems that the tour folks there have it out for anyone not doing one of their tours and we were directed multiple places before being told to get in the middle line which is marked with an I symbol. Same issue at the Forum. IF you choose to walk up the hill to the left of the forum lines it takes you only to a very small church at a dead end street. Definitely not worth the amount of uphill walk for that.

  • This was a great site to visit for its historical value. The Roman Forum was spectacular! It was extremely crowded even in the middle of September. We never found out what the Free Self-Guided Vatican Quest Tour was and no guides knew either so that was a mystery. All in all an amazing site to visit. Glad we purchased our tickets in advance as the lines to get in were very long and it was very hot. Be advised!

  • The access to the Colosseum went very smoothly. It was amazing. However, don't be fooled by the Free Self-Guided Vatican Quest Tour. This is simply a printout of many pages describing what you are seeing in the Vatican. It is NOT tickets into the Vatican itself. Since we assumed we had pre-purchased tickets on-line and discovered it not to be true, we wound up standing in line for over an hour and a half to buy tickets. Not fun in the heat wave in August in Rome.

  • 0 stars! The review doesn't offer enough characters to explain the nightmare we had with these vouchers at the colloseum. This voucher is an absolute joke, once I arrived and stood in line for 1 hour I was told the company does not sell valid tickets I had to rebuy different tickets at the colloseum

  • Great experience

  • Priority access ticket was very useful. No time was wasted in buying the entrance tickets.

  • The Colosseum is great to see and experience. One giant bit of advice, especially for those who've not used Viator. When I reserved the tickets, I soon received an email with a tab to 'print vouchers,' which I did. I then had a 2-page printout containing an image of what looked to be a voucher that contained confirmation numbers, etc., along with a page of details about the tour address, etc.. When we arrived at the Colosseum, we were told that the printout was not acceptable and that we needed to have some other form of voucher to enter. We were forced, in 105 degree heat, to find some place with an Wifi connection and then furiously browse emails going back weeks to find follow-up emails with a 'real' voucher. We finally did, and were able to enter. Later, we checked the original email and saw a sentence buried inside all the details saying that a second email would be sent with the 'real' voucher. A tip for Viator: In cases like this, put this information in giant letters at the very top of the initial email. The gray-colored box with what looked to be all the information needed fooled me into thinking ti was all I needed to enter the Colosseum. A great tour but a royal hassle to start.

  • Horrible. This is a scam. I paid 138 for the voucher, which is not accepted anywhere at the colosseum entrance, Roman Forum, or Palatine hill. I was told that Viator is not affiliated with them,, and the voucher can not be used there. I called When in Rome tours, as instructed on the voucher. They told me that the couldn'd help me. After I complained, they told me that they would email the ticket again, which they did not do. This is criminal- Viator is selling fraudulent tickets. This was a terrible experience for my children, as we then had to wait in 90 degree heat for over an hour, and pay for new tickets. Viator is a criminal organization, and should be shut down

  • What a fiasco. I printed off the voucher as instructed in the email and went along to the Colosseum only to be told this wasn't the correct paperwork. After spending an hour looking through emails and downloading the app I couldn't find any other voucher. I telephoned the number on the paperwork only to be told that they weren't able to help as they weren't Viator! I asked several officials who advised that there should be details of a meeting point but surprise surprise there was nothing. in the end I bought some more tickets. One man said to me that we had booked with the wrong company - that could not be more true. I am very disappointed to be over 100 out of pocket. Of course contacting Viator now is next to impossible. My advise would be not to book before you go - the queues aren't as bad as you are led to believe.
