Life in the big cities in Russia will not introduce you to the true and real life in this vast country. There is a huge difference between major cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg, and life in the other less populated and developed parts of Russia. It is not easy to understand true Russian life when you are stuck in the traffic jam on your way to the Kremlin with a coffee in your hand! Visiting the countryside is an opportunity to explore real Russia and the common lifestyle enjoyed by ordinary people. The difference is like night and day. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the frantic and overcrowded metropolis cities and make a visit to the opposite way of life. You will truly enjoy this trip. And, you will never forget your experience of visiting another place in time one thats mostly forgotten.
This tour includes traveling two towns of the famous Golden ring of Russia. It is a ring of cities northeast of Moscow, the capital of Russia. These ancient towns, which also played a significant role in the formation of the Russian Orthodox Church, preserve the memory of the most important and significant events in Russian history. The towns are one of the best places to visit in Russia! They have been called "open-air museums" and feature unique monuments of Russian architecture of the 12th18th centuries, including kremlins, monasteries, cathedrals, and churches. You will also see a lot of rural Russia with its old wooden houses and traditional villages.
I will pick you up from the Hotel at 8 a.m. We will drive to Sergiev Posad, the most important Russian monastery and the spiritual center of the Russian Orthodox Church. Sergiyev Posad grew in the 15th century around one of the greatest of Russian monasteries, the Trinity Lavra, still (as of 2015) one of the largest monasteries in Russia. Now it currently is home to over 300 monks. The buildings are picturesque with stunning deco, painting and everything! Even if you are not a devoted (Orthodox) Christian, you will admire the beauty and splendor of the churches architecture, domes, icons Yet, do not expect calmness and immersion in a monastery atmosphere, as the place is visited by tourist groups.
To see less touristic place, we will drive to Pereslavl Zalessky town located 70 km from it on the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo at the mouth of the Trubezh River. It was founded in 1152 by Prince Yury Dolgoruky as a projected capital of Zalesye. Monuments of church architecture here include six architecture complex convents and a lot of churches. It is the amazing place to see the Russian countryside to see the local life with a lot of wooden buildings, local cafes and ordinary people. About 4.30 p.m. we may visit the Evening Mass in one of the small churches.
