We really enjoyed this trip. Seville is a beautiful city and the tour guide was fantastic. The only downfall was the commute. It is a bit far from Albufeira so you spend a lot of time travelling.
This was basically a bus ride to Seville. The tour guide walked us to the cathedral and then said we were on our own. The bus was leaving at 3.10. Would not recommend.
We knew it is going to be a long day . The only thing we did not like was having a tour by bus in Seville. we lost one hour in traffic and visited mainly Expo area not the center . We would have use better that hour walking in the city by ourselves
We took this day trip while in the algarve for vacation. Everything was as promised. Hotel pick up and drop off. Comfortable bus ride and then time in Seville . Of course you do not have a great deal of time to explore but you can plan it out and hit some of the city's highlights. I would buy tickets to the cathedral and palace ahead of time to save yourself some time in line and to make tour trip even more efficient. The tour was very professional. The multilingual aspect (everything was repeated in 4 different languages) took away from depth of information at time- but did not detract from the overall value.
It was amazing to see Seville and the price was great as well. It would have costed more to do it on our own even though we already had a car rented. That said, it did feel like we needed more time to see more of Seville. It wasn't the fault of the tour of course, just how it is. Also, the promised free onboard wifi did not work and there was no effort to fix it. I know that it shouldn't be a make or break; however, we needed to contact others in Portugal to confirm evening activities and could not until we either found wifi in Seville, or returned back to our stay in Portugal.
If you are okay with almost 10 hours on bus and only 5 hours in Seville from 1130am - 1615pm Spanish time keeping in mind siesta from 1330pm to 1530pm when stores and restaurants are closed, then this may be a worthwhile trip. However, my husband and I did not find it enough time to really tour anything, just quick exterior photo shots. We decided to separate from tour guide as we really could not hear her since group was so large and due to city noise. We took the 1 hour boat cruise at end of trip but it really wasn't worth it as the majority of the sites cannot be seen from river. Didn't even have time to tour the bullfighting ring and while flamenco shows are advertise all of the shows are in the evening. The two hour drop off of passengers once back in the Algarve made for a long and not very pleasant day.
Practical info: Pick-up by van at 0610am (10 minutes early) from Quinta do Paraiso resort in Carvoeiro (west Algarve)
After 2 bus transfers finally reached Seville at 1030am Portugal time.
Some information provided by tour guide in four languages during ride. Stop at truck stop cafe about 40 minutes outside Seville. Once in Seville, tour guide takes you to cathedral where you have choice to remain with tour guide or venture out on own. Lines to monuments are too long to actually tour. All tours are separate price and required to have Spanish guide if not with tour guide. It was also very warm (40°C). Boat ride was last event before leaving. We did have excellent tapas and beer at Puerto Plata on Adolfo Rodriguez Jurado.
Overall, this trip was simply a teaser or orientation trip for an actual trip to the city.
had a lovely day yesterday in seville sadly we did not have alot of time but still had about 4 hours
Took this day trip to Seville. It was okay at best. Tour guide did not give alot of information on history of Seville. The walking tour was not much beyond pointing out the different landmarks. The timetable for the day was also very confusing as we were in spending the day in Spain and yet working on Portuguese time (which is an hour behind Spain). Also some of the sights had long waiting lines. It would have been useful to know in advance the ones that we could book tickets for in advance online (obviously at our own risk)
Our group of 4 friends took this day trip to Seville on March 6, 2019 and it was just as explained in the write up Bus picked us up promptly at the time and place by our hotel in Albufeira and the day went off without a hitch. The guide gave a running commentary about the countryside we were passing through all the way to Seville which was appreciated. Had a rest stop on the way there and back for washroom break and quick bite , did a tour around part of Seville on the bus once there and then were let off for exploring..the guide took the group along to the plaza near the cathedral and gave some recommendations on where to go if we were heading out on our own or you could stay with her if desired. Our group went off on our own and had no problem finding our way around the immediate area and the guide had stressed the landmarks to look for to find our way back to the meeting point. Would recommend this tour.
Fantastic trip, excellent value for money, we were picked up from Quarteira at 5.45am on the dot and collected several other parties of mixed nationalities and crossed the border into Spain at about 8.45am. We stopped for half an hour at a cafe, we always bring something with us to eat so that one of us can get a table and the other can use the washroom, by then the line for drinks has shortened and you can take a few minutes to relax. Another 90 minutes and we were in Seville, Carlos the multilingual guide was superb at explaining the fascinating history of the city and Constantinople the driver was brilliant at negotiating the very busy traffic while we went on a trip around some of the main points of interest.
We then disembarked and Carlos took us on a short walking tour to the Cathedral, suggesting we could take an optional boat trip on the Guadalcivir an hour before departing, which we did.
We then set off to check out the main sights, in particular La Placa we Espana and the bullring which we had come specifically to see...stunning.
We then went and are tapas at a small bar near to the river, and made our way to the boat for a peaceful hour long cruise, shared from the heat.n
Back on to the bus for a three hour journey back to Quarteira with drop offs for all guests.
What a fantastic day, ignore the grumblers who complain about the journey time, if you are lucky enough to be able to travel be grateful..We priced a return private taxi to Seville and it was 250 euros, so the cost of this whole day was just a fraction of that, and worth every euro. Thanks to everyone involved at Viator, Destinations Travel Solutions and Follow Me Tours for an unforgettable day.
