Unlock the secrets of Andalusian gastronomy with a local guide by your side on a foodie journey through Seville, hunting down the finest produce the region has to offer. Well visit the best markets in the city and taste lots of authentic local treats, stopping to admire dreamy architecture and to learn a little of the citys past as we soak up the sultry sounds of flamenco, which permeates hypnotically through its ancient streets. This food tour will be a treat for your head, heart and stomach!

Know More about this tour

Markets are at their best in the morning when the produce is fresh and abundant. So our tour begins bright and early at one of the most beautiful and active local food markets, in the charming Triana district. Here youll see what the locals are buying for dinner, with a huge variety of products and fresh produce on offer.

Well stop to introduce you to one of the most famous gourmet products in Spain, melt-in-the-mouth Iberian ham (or cheese for vegetarians), with a glass of wine, sherry or a soft drink to wash it down as we talk about the process of obtaining this remarkable cured meat. Then well enjoy the aromas and flavours of some different olive varieties, marinated in typical Spanish dressings. So far, so very Spanish!

After this heavenly tasting experience, we will cross the Guadalquivir River over the bridge of Triana where well enjoy one of the most spectacular views of Seville.

Our next stop is the Encarnacion market, located inside the biggest wooden structure in the world, which the locals affectionately refer to as the mushrooms. This market is a much more modern affair with a rich assortment of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and fish stands. As we wander, well stop to try a snack, such as a montadito (little sandwich) with a drink of your choice to ensure we have enough energy to walk to our next destination...

Our scenic stroll will take us through Regina Street, one of the best areas for in-the-know locals and tourists in the city for secondhand boutiques and cultural cafes.

Well arrive at the Mercado de la Feria, one of the oldest in town, dating all the way back to 1719. It also happens to be our favourite because the architecture and the atmosphere are fabulous and the produce on offer is consistently of high quality, and at reasonable prices too. Well stop to enjoy a delicious tapa of fried fish and glass of something to refresh you, making sure that you dont finish your tour hungry or thirsty!

If you are lucky enough to book our tour on a Thursday, well also be able to take in the oldest flea market in the city located at the same address as the Mercado.

Your food journey with us ends here but before you go, dont forget to ask your guide for tips on where else to eat, shop and visit during your stay in sunny SevilleSalud!

Traveler Reviews

This activity is not limited to people traveling alone (although I was) and is also great for couples/groups, but if you're traveling solo, these tours are a great way to get a feel of the city on foot with someone who knows the territory. What better way to learn a new country's culture and history than through it's food, via tours of the local markets. One gets a sense of how people shop and what food products are well loved and well known in Seville. Javiar was my guide that day and he was passionate and knowledgeable about Spain and its main foods, providing history, and background of saffron and pimenton, jamon, and olive oil. I appreciated his detailed knowledge of the food scene and markets in Seville and had great fun trying local tapas, vermouth, and wine. I strongly recommend this tour for the curious and for plain delicious fun. I also loved being introduced to the local small business that I would have never found on my own. It was perfect.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed this food tour of Seville. As it happened, we were the only patrons in that day's tour and so received very individual attention. Our tour guide Javier was outstanding, he was as fun to be with as he was knowledgeable about the foods/food markets of Seville. We visited 3 different food markets, each with different specialties and vibe. Javier's presentation of various foods and drinks was organized, informative and yes, delicious! We learned quite a bit about some favorite Spanish foods and drinks and had a lot of fun doing it. I would highly recommend this tour and our tour guide Javi!
