The Vasa museum is located on an island referred to as Royal Djurgrden. It is the Stockholmers most beloved recreational area and home to the citys amusement park, the open-air museum Skansen, the playhouse of Astrid Lindgren Junibacken and much much more. The Vasa Museum displays the Swedish warship Vasa, which could be considered Swedens greatest failure but is today instead one of our greatest success stories. Vasa sank on her maiden voyage, in Stockholms inner harbour, in 1628. After 333 years at the bottom of the sea the Vasa was salvaged and stands before us 95% intact.
Stop outside City Hall, renowned for its architecture, the Blue Hall and Golden Hall, and for being the site of the Nobel Prize Banquet. Get ready to see its exteriors and take awesome pictures of this place.

Stockholm is a great city with many things to do. The Vasa Museum was great. To be able to view a ship from so very long ago that has been recovered and preserved is truly great. Out guide was knowledgeable but a little long winded. She would go on and on about something and you could tell everyone was ready to move on. She had a very dry sense of humor which made some things boring. She wasn't on the trip back to the ship and the bus driver was much more entertaining. All in all, it is a great tour with wonderful things to see. We just wish our guide would have been a little more personable and able to shorten some things. But that did not dampen how we were able to enjoy some many things about Stockholm. In fact, it was one of the places we visited, we said we would love to go back and stay several days. The Viking Museum and ABBA museum would be musts if we return as we only saw the outside.

I was not looking forward to the bus ride from our port to the city. I was pleasantly surprised...our guide used the time to share fascinating information and stories about Sweden. I wish this tour could have included a stop at the ABBA museum.
