Overview

If you have visited the Grand Bahama Island and feel like there is nothing left to see, we now offer day trip shore excursions to Sweeting's Cay, about 4 miles off the east end of Grand Bahama Island. Here, guests are able to spend the day kayaking at Turtle Park.

Know More about this tour

Sweeting's Cay is about 4 miles off the east side of Grand Bahama Island and the perfect spot to spend the day. Guests will be transported from the city of freeport through several villages to McClean's Town where guests will board a boat and off to Sweetings Cay. On your way to the cay, you will be able to see the unspoiled beauty of the surrounding cays. You will be given a briefing on the dos and donts of the area. During the 60 minutes of kayaking you would be kayaking through the creaks and mangroves were you can observe star fish, fish, jelly fish, conch, sting rays, you may even see sharks, eagle rays, and turtles, but don't worry, if you don't get to see the turtles while kayaking you will be able to see the turtles at Turtle Park, our second stop on this adventure. You will be able to see the turtles in their natural environment, darting their heads to see who is visiting them. Some will come close enough for you to take pictures of them in the lake surrounded by mangroves.

Brice and his partner were great! Added perk was their cute dogs! Very informative on the drive there. Right on time for pickup and drop off. Someone in our party was worried about getting back on time and Brice was very accommodating and brought us back early. Kayaking was fun and not rushed. Turtle park was nice. Definitely recommend.

The best Bahamas excursion we had! We were treated to a private slice of heaven on this very authentic Bahamas excursion. Brice, our guide, is extremely personable and shared his wealth of knowledge of the Bahamas on the 45 minute ride to a boat launch. (He has different-sized boats to accommodate different sized groups.). We enjoyed a quick ride to the kayak site which is a private slice of paradise on the edge of Sweetings Cay. The water is clear as gin, the sand like sugar, and you’ll see fish, conch shells, starfish and birds as you kayak up the creek through the mangroves. It was so peaceful and gorgeous. We took a refreshing swim and walked the private beach. We had a nice sandwich and water overlooking the water before we took a quick boat shuttle over to try to see some turtles. We did not see any on our day but it was okay; the kayaking and private beach was well worth the time and money. I get nervous on boats so Brice accommodated me by giving me a life jacket to wear. Pack your sunscreen and water/walking shoes and get ready for a great day.

The hosts were super friendly and informative. The views were phenomenal and the trip was exciting. The turtle park is a conservation project and loved the turtles! Lunch and new friends made. Would do it all over again.

Very unique experience! It was so nice to get away from the crowds and "the usual" and have an adventure off the beaten path. The remote location was beautiful. Brice gave us so much information and also shared the little-known things about The Bahamas--and the country's heart wrenching recovery from Hurricane Dorian.

The excursion was okay. Not GREAT!! I'm so glad a called ahead otherwise I would not have known where to meet. Bryce is a very nice man but drives way too fast with passengers. Scared us a couple of times. The description of this excursion is not accurate. We did NOT kayak with turtles. We kayaked in a waterway area that had nothing exciting in it. We did see a few fish and starfish. We were told be back from kayaking in one hour from departing on our boat. They only have double kayaks. The lunch was adequate. A nice sandwich with chips with a bottle water. I'm glad we brought a bottle of water with us otherwise we would have had nothing to drink while kayaking in the hot sun. We were driven to a place where there were supposed to be turtles. Saw none. This was a very expensive trip for what we got in return.

If you want an extremely private experience in a beautiful spot, Bryce and his small crew will give you that. Water was spectacular and the kayak trip awesome.

This was an awesome adventure. Our excursion included snorkeling off of Michael’s Cay, which was amazing, the best in the Grand Bahama Island. It was a like a lazy river, snorkeling over star fish, colorful coral and fans, eagle rays, and tons of colorful fish. We visited the turtles at the Sea Turtle Santuary and had lunch on the beach at a private location. The boat ride was exactly what we were looking for as we explored the cays and walked the beaches at the East End. Thank you Brice for this great day!!

We booked the tour on Feb 13th. It got cancelled due to strong wind. They said they were going to issue a full refund. But they didn’t. I request a refund through Viator. They told Viator that we participated the tour which was a totally lie! They charged us $320! That’s a scam! Don’t book with them. I normally don’t write bad reviews but scamming people for $320 is unacceptable. I will keep contacting Viator and my credit card company.

It was a great trip! Learning about the island, seeing it from one end to the other, the boat ride to Sweetings Cay, kayaking, star fish and turtles. I definitely recommend this excursion.

This was an amazing trip and worth every penny. We stopped in Freeport as part of a Royal Caribbean cruise but booked this independently through TripAdvisor. Bryce was an excellent communicator and picked us up and dropped us off right at the port and our ship. It’s a long drive and a quick boat ride to sweetings cay but Bryce kept things interesting as our tour guide and shared fun facts all about the island and the destruction from Dorian that took place. We also loved how off the beaten path this adventure was. While kayaking we saw sharks, rays, fish and tons of colorful star fish. We even found a few conch shells. We were also fed a delicious lunch before heading to the turtle park. The area is incredibly beautiful. My only criticism, and it’s a small one is that Bryce seemed to really rush things along and was in a constant hurry. We would have loved some beach time after lunch. Never the less, I would definitely recommend this adventure to anyone visiting Freeport.
