Know More about this tour

Meet at the Aretusa Fountain at 6:30pm to start a flavorful evening of gastronomic and cultural discoveries with a passionate local guide.

Walking and sharing with you all the secrets of ancient Syracuse, your guide will bring you to an authentic family tavern hidden in the little streets of Ortigia. Keeping primitive charm, they are always attractive with their hospitality, traditional way of cooking, and warm family atmosphere - which unfortunately can be lost in most tourist restaurants.

This tour perfectly combines a wine and culinary experience with a sightseeing walk through the most breathtaking monuments of the old city. Piazza San Rocco, Piazza Duomo, Santa Lucia Church (with a Caravaggio painting), Piazza San Giuseppe, the Jewish district, Piazza Archimede, and a lot of other treasures will capture your attention.

While walking through the town at dusk, you will stop in three different places where tables await you. From traditionally cooked fresh fish and typical Sicilian appetizers to unrepeatable homemade Sicilian pastries accompanied by fragrant local wines and liquors – you will be introduced to the real taste of old Syracuse. See the 'Itinerary' section for more details on each stop.

Just follow your expert guide through the town and eat and drink as a local. This is a filling and amazing culinary experience. You won’t need to eat before or after the tour.

  • Elisa was so good what a truly superb evening with lots of great wine and food and all of our other travellers were great too...a must!

  • i was very disappointed with this tour. while Valeria clearly knew the history of the area, her talk was disjointed. a chronology of the history would have added some context to the dates/buildings/monuments. and the food/wine was not as advertised. our first stop with tastings of seafood was set in a lovely locale and the food and wine was wonderful. the second stop was simply cheese and meats...where was the meal? i understand food can be seasonal but the photos advertised a full meal. and very little explanation of the food and wine. was certainly not a tour for foodies or wine enthusiasts looking to learn about the local fare. i don't recommend this tour.

  • Tour was fun and we enjoyed the company of the other people on our tour it was a small group tour and there were 8 of us. Our guide Anna Maria was very lovely and shared a lot about Sircusa, but she didn't tie what we were eating to Siracusa at all. It would have been nice to know why the particular restaurants were chosen and why the foods we sampled were chosen. That said, the proprietors of the places we went were great and very accommodating there were several people with food restrictions. And the food - delicious!

  • This tour was fantastic. Our guide was super knowledgable about the area and the history of Ortigia. All of the food and drinks we excellent. If you have the time, this is a great tour to take to get a mix of the history, culture and food of Siracusa.

  • Fun tour with a nice sampling of wine from the region and a taste of the food. Our tour guide was friendly and enjoyable to be around. However, I felt a little underwhelmed by the whole experience might have been because of the heat. This is what I remember.

  • fantastic evening-good company, great food and wine and a super guide, made it all very interesting and well informed
Trip lasted just the right length of time-about 3hours
Our guide also showed us local places of interest that 'normal' tourists probably do not see
Very enjoyable and highly recommended evening

  • This was the highlight of my holiday! My husband and I booked this trip a long time in advance as we were excited to try the local food and wine when we arrived in Siracusa - and it did not disappoint. Our guide was knowledgeable and fun - creating a great atmosphere amongst the group and making us feel very welcome. We had lovely fish and white wine at the first venue, followed by a huge amount of cheese/meats with red wine at the second. Our final stop was at a little cafe for dessert and sweet wines. Between each stop, our guide showed us the wonderful sites of Ortigia and this encouraged us to come back to the island another 3 times during our trip - as it is so spectacular. We could not recommend an activity more!

  • We really enjoyed the Siracusa Food and Wine Walking Tour. Our guide, Elisa I believe that was her name was very nice and knowledgeable. The food was absolutely delicious. We were able to try different seafood dishes which were my personal favorite, different cured meats and cheeses, Arancinis fried, stuffed rice balls and a variety of Sicilian desserts including the classic Ricotta Cannoli. We were also able to enjoy different wines and liqueurs, which were also delicious! We also did a Food and Wine Walking Tour in Taormina, which we really enjoyed. Overall, this type of tour is not only tasty, but a great way to experience the culture from a local's perspective via your guide as well as a great way to meet other tourists and enjoy a social evening out and about.

  • This was really fun - spend an evening walking around Siracusa learning about the city and its history, and stopping at 3 places for some excellent food and wine. Highly recommended.

  • This tour was a lot fun and offered a surprising amount of food and drink. Based just on that, I would recommend this tour but given how informative, passionate, and charming our guide Elisa was, then I say you need to do this. We spent a few pleasant hours winding through the streets of Ortigia. Book this early in your stay as Elisa points out not only historic and tourist attractions but also restaurants and bars you might want to try.

The first stop was full of fish - delicious octopus and mussels and a variety of lightly fried options, shrimp and sardines, as well as some very tasty wines. Afterward, there is a bit more a winding tour and then a second stops for meats, cheeses, arancini and delicious red wines. Our tour ended near the Temple of Apollo, again this portion full of historical context, before concluding for dessert and drinks at a little cafe. There was a sublime almond wine and delicious limoncello in addition to sweets such as cannoli.

This was an outstanding evening and I highly recommend to anyone. The food was very good, the drinks plentiful, and Elisa was a lovely guide.
