This riverside tour is perfect to discover the importance of the Tagus River in Portuguese history, the longest one in the Iberian Peninsula, flowing 626 miles long (1,007 kilometers) between Spain and the Atlantic at Lisbon.

This tour starts in Belm, that is known as the historic district of the Age of Discovery. The sensational architecture of the Tower of Belm and Jernimos Monastery (both World Heritage Sites) is the result of the discovery of the sea route to India, the opening of trade with Japan, and the colonization of Brazil and parts of Africa and Asia. Belm are full of monuments, museums, such as the iconic MAAT. 

You will come across places like Praa do Comrcio (city's main square) and Cais das Colunas that was an old shipping dock very important in the Age of Discovery, where people and spices, entered Lisbon. 

You will finish in Parque das Naes (futuristic district), built around the last international exhibition of the 20th century, still remains one of Europes foremost hubs for contemporary architecture. This spellbinding skyline features work from acclaimed architects such as the Santiago Calatrava, Peter Chermayeff and Siza Vieira, including the remarkable Oceanrio, the largest aquarium in Europe.

So as you can see, this tour is the perfect balance between historic places and the new more industrial/futuristic ones and in the end you will know more about Lisbon than any of your friends. You will feel like a local!
