Know More about this tour

Visit the Acropolis, the landmark of Greece! You will enter the Acropolis from the south slope so as to avoid the crowds and also to visit the Dionysus sanctuary and Dionysus Theatre built in the 5th century BC. As you begin to ascend the sacred hill a breathtaking view of the city below will unfold. Your guide will give you a detailed explanation of the glorious monuments of the Acropolis such as, the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the Propylaia, the Nike Temple, the Agrippa Monument and the surrounding monuments such as the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Observatory as well as the Philopappos, Mars Hill, and Pnyx Hill.

You will then enjoy some free time for exploring and picture taking at the Acropolis will be provided after your Acropolis tour. For the guided tour of the Agora you will meet your tour guide at about 13:45 in front of the Acropolis canteen, which is located exactly opposite the main exit. You will also be advised by your tour guide. Before the Agora tour starts, you can grab a snack or a drink from the canteen as the tour schedule does not include time for a leisure lunch. You will then meet with your tour guide and continue your tour to the Ancient Agora.

The Ancient Agora - the heart of the Ancient City! After your Acropolis tour you will have a short break to get a snack or beverage, as the tour schedule does not include time for a leisure lunch. You will then walk down to the Ancient Agora which was the commercial, political, and financial center of Ancient Athens. The walk through the monuments will offer you the sense of traveling back in time. You will visit the Hephaestus Temple - the best preserved Greek Temple from the 5th century BC, and you will see the wonderful church of the 12 Apostles, the Temple of Apollo Patroos, the Stoa of Zeus, the Altar of Zeus, and with your knowledgeable and professional guide the ancient stones will come alive.

The Ancient Agora is the place where Socrates, Plato and many world renowned philosophers walked and taught. Your licensed guide will then take you to the Attalos Museum which is worthwhile visiting as it houses artifacts of great historical value such as the IDs of the ancient Greeks, and the original measures and weights for the Market inspectors. The tour ends at the Ancient Agora at about 3pm.

  • Amazing sights, wonderful history and great guide.

  • Loved this tour. Our tour guide was excellent and very informative. Would definitely recommend.

  • Our tour guide was great, very knowledgeable and shared information on other locations in Greece we were visiting. It was great to have conversation and suggestions to improve our trip! The tour is good, just got to be a long day. Acropolis is amazing to see and very enjoyable. By the time we got to the Agora and Museum, we were spent.

  • We enjoyed the experience with Angeliki. She's an archeologist too, so it helped with the history and explanations of the sites. The views from the Parthenon were stunning and we were lucky with the crowds and weather. Beautiful place. Loved the Agora too, without Angeliki's explanations, we wouldn't know the significance of the various ruins. It was lovely. The Agora museum was closed for renovations though, which was a pity. We went up to the temple of Hephaestus too. Good tour.

  • Excellent tour! Our guide was Stavros, who was very knowledgeable about the locations and rather than just explaining what we were seeing, he worked hard to explain their significance and impact on our modern world. This is the place where our modern ideas of democracy and education began, and Stavros helped to put all of this into perspective with our own experiences today. This tour does require a lot of walking, and climbing steep ramps and steps.

  • outstanding

  • We enjoyed the tour very much. Nikos was very knowledgeable and did great explaining things. Set a nice pace for walking since we had to ascend quite a ways to the top of the acropolis. I'm also glad we did the Agora and learned about it's purpose and place in culture. Could have skipped the museum.

  • Was a well run and organised tour. The tour guide was very informative and knew his stuff but was a bit too detailed for my liking. It was very hot so maybe that was why I was impatient. The Acropolis bit was great just the extra Museum tour was too much.

  • This tours was amazing. Artemis, our guide, was knowledgable and went at a great pace. This is worth doing.

  • The tour was great. Meeting up was fairly chaotic, as there were many different tours all coordinated by the same woman in the same place. You had to kind of be assertive and pay attention to not get left behind. But after that the tour was great and the guide very knowledgeable (or just a good bs'er)
