Know More about this tour

Meet your guide at the entrance to the Royal Gardens in Venice and stroll to Doge's palace, the majestic Venetian-Gothic building from where the leaders of the former Venetian Republic ruled until the late 18th century.
Plug into your provided headset to ensure you can hear your guides commentary clearly, and then, with your skip-the-line ticket, bypass the main entrance queues and head inside. Begin by exploring the grandiose public chambers, whose walls are studded with masterpieces by Renaissance artists Tintoretto and Veronese.
See Juno Bestowing her Gifts on Venice, a vibrant ceiling panel in the Trial Chambers of the Council of Ten, and the slot where accusations of treason were passed to Venices feared secret service. Learn, too, about the extravagant doges and hear of the power and treachery that characterized their reign.
Then, wander across the world-famous Bridge of sighs, which was built to connect the palace to the network of prisons established by the doges so they could keep a close eye on their foes. Look out over the historical waterways and pose for photos.
End your tour with a walk around the eerie New Prisons before bidding your guide a fond farewell outside the palace.

Fantastic tour. Ariana was so passionate about Venetian history and added plenty of fun personal anecdotes! Loved hearing about what makes Venice so distinct and the intriguing tensions (captured in art) that existed between the Doges and the Vatican

  • 19-Oct-2022

The tour spent too much time outside the Palace. The meeting place was a little difficult to find, and quite far from the Palace. It took Us about an hour to finally reach the interior and the tour was much better then. Our tour leader obviously loves her subject.

Excellent communications and guide was well prepared, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the venue. Interesting place to visit but not as good as many in Rome

I am not a history buff. It was always my least favorite subject in school. It never grabbed my interest. However, this tour and our tour guide, Andreas, pulled me in from the first minute. Andreas was engaging, animated, knowledgeable, and funny. He made me enjoy a history lesson!! Everyone that was on the tour with us said it was the best tour they’d been on and I agree. This was our first, but have been on other since - and this one was hands down the best. The tour guide makes the tour and Andreas is an amazing guide!!!

Our tour with Cristina on 14th October was excellent. She was informative without being dry, enthusiastic, and considerate of the group. The tour was very interesting even for my mother who is not particularly interested in history. Highly recommend!

The explanations of the art’s meaning and the Venetian empire along with the beautiful buildings along with the thorough explanations by the tour guide

Fantastic tour guide ("Jorgia") who made the history come alive, and we enjoyed her excellent sense of humor! We learned about rulers and doges, artwork and government, in the Renaissance period and more. We were mesmerized by the painting on display and history of Artemesia Gentileschi, one of the few female painters of the time. On top of this, we toured through the prison area which was truly fascinating! Thank you for a top-notch experience at Doges Palace.

Georgia was a great guide. We saw the Doges Palace and prisons and we walked the bridge of sighs. Our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about this great governing empire.

I’d give this one 10 stars if I could! This was our favorite tour of the entire trip. Guide was understandable and engaging. He was so knowledgeable and answered all questions well. So glad we did this one!
