Know More about this tour

Your full-day tour starts in Amsterdam’s Museum District in the morning. Your guide will first take you to the Rijksmuseum, a Dutch national museum dedicated to the arts and history of the Netherlands. Enjoy skip-the-line entry and head straight inside for a small-group tour.

This recently renovated museum has a magnificent collection of artwork, crafts and historical pieces dating back from the year 1200 to today. Admire and learn about masterpieces such as Vermeer’s Milkmaid and Rembrandt’s Night Watch. The entire collection of the Rijksmuseum is an incredible one million items, with 8,000 on display in 80 galleries.

After the tour, you have free time to browse the museum shop. This is where you will also enjoy a light lunch at the Rijksmuseum.

Next it's time to admire Amsterdam's outdoor beauty with a 75 minute boat tour along the city's picturesque canals. Relax as you cruise along the elaborate ring of UNESCO World Heritage-listed canals, passing charming bridges, canal houses, classic Dutch gables, churches, towers and other wonderful waterfront highlights.

Following the canal cruise, your guide will take you to the Van Gogh Museum.

The Van Gogh Museum is home to the world's largest collection of paintings by Van Gogh, with more than 200 paintings as well as many letters and drawings. You can also see the work of those who inspired Van Gogh throughout various displays of art by other 19th-century painters. Your art historian guide will teach you about select paintings and about Van Gogh’s life, plus answer any questions you have.

After your Van Gogh Museum tour, your guide will take you to Coster Diamonds -- one of the oldest still-operating diamond polishing factories -- where you will receive an entrance ticket to the Diamond Museum. The guided portion of your tour ends here, and you're free to continue exploring independently.

  • This tour is highly recommended. Our guide Steve was very knowledgeable and passionate about art.Guided tours have preference at each painting so always get close to each one. Lunch at Rijksmuseum was delightful. Canal cruise gave a relaxing spell before Van Gogh museum .

  • This is a very long day, but so worth it. Guide was full of knowledge. If your time is short like ours was, pack it all into one intense day. Loved it.

  • This is not to be missed. I learnt so much about art in one day and thanks very much to the guide Pieter , who is really passionate about art and provided so much insight into the lives and work of the artists. Highly, recommend this rather than going yourself unless you are already an expert in art.

  • Our tour guide, Michael was exceptional! With an art history background, his passion was very evident

  • There were two groups the day we did the tour. The experience was totally different for each group. The other guide was very knowledgeable. Our guide was very nice but the tour was lacking because of some language issues. Also, the headsets were awful and we kept getting a lot of static. Our light lunch was, lets say, interesting. We wound up leaving the group in the Van Gogh museum and toured ourselves.

  • I didn't really like museums-related tours, but having joined the group tour, it made me appreciate the arts and historic significance of the wonderful creations by talented men. Thanks to Stephen who's very much knowledgeable of the artist and the period to which each iconic paintings were created.

  • Both musumes are really amazing, especially Van Gogh, the tour guide was truly amazing, he we was full of knowledge, I'm glad I booked this one. saved time with ticket bookings, tour guide was very knowledgeable, lunch was pretty delcious, canal cruise was awsome !

so, overall its a pretty well managed full day trip.

  • Excellent tour guide. No explanation needed

  • This tour was awesome. Perfect amount of time in both museums for non-museum buffs like me, and our guide, Steve, was punctual, organized, knowledgeable and well-articulated. When we went through the museum gift shops we didn't see anything that we hadn't seen in person in the museums, which confirmed for me that we didn't miss any of the big stuff. I was less impressed with the canal cruise though. Could honestly take it or leave it. It was a nice break between the two museum tours, but the boat operator didn't say anything the entire time, just a recorded narration that was rather bland and often times a little ahead or behind our actual location. We were sandwiched into our seats, a full load, and had headset cords running across the table so everyone could be plugged into the recorded narration. Unfortunately we had rain too, which meant the roof had to be closed and we couldn't see as well upwards of the walls of the canals until we got out into open waters. I still recommend this tour, but with lower expectations of the canal cruise portion of it.
