Know More about this tour

Your full-day tour starts in Amsterdam’s Museum District in the morning. Your guide will first take you to the Rijksmuseum, a Dutch national museum dedicated to the arts and history of the Netherlands. Enjoy skip-the-line entry and head straight inside for a small-group tour.

This recently renovated museum has a magnificent collection of artwork, crafts and historical pieces dating back from the year 1200 to today. Admire and learn about masterpieces such as Vermeer’s Milkmaid and Rembrandt’s Night Watch. The entire collection of the Rijksmuseum is an incredible one million items, with 8,000 on display in 80 galleries.

After the tour, you have free time to browse the museum shop. This is where you will also enjoy a light lunch at the Rijksmuseum.

Next it's time to admire Amsterdam's outdoor beauty with a 75 minute boat tour along the city's picturesque canals. Relax as you cruise along the elaborate ring of UNESCO World Heritage-listed canals, passing charming bridges, canal houses, classic Dutch gables, churches, towers and other wonderful waterfront highlights.

Following the canal cruise, your guide will take you to the Van Gogh Museum.

The Van Gogh Museum is home to the world's largest collection of paintings by Van Gogh, with more than 200 paintings as well as many letters and drawings. You can also see the work of those who inspired Van Gogh throughout various displays of art by other 19th-century painters. Your art historian guide will teach you about select paintings and about Van Gogh’s life, plus answer any questions you have.

After your Van Gogh Museum tour, your guide will take you to Coster Diamonds -- one of the oldest still-operating diamond polishing factories -- where you will receive an entrance ticket to the Diamond Museum. The guided portion of your tour ends here, and you're free to continue exploring independently.

  • our guide was fantastic... professional and very knowledgable.

  • This tour, while costing a bit more than others, is worth the money. It covers decent detail for their size, you are immersed in the two museums, skipping entrance lines, and get a nice catered lunch and a one-hour canal tour in between. Plus, admission to the diamond museum is included. The canal tour itself is pretty comprehensive, so an additional canal tour isn't needed during your stay in Amsterdam.
But what really makes the day is a good guide. Many reviews below this mention tour guide Pieter by name, and we were lucky enough to have him as our guide. Pieter is energetic and enthusiastic. And he has a sincere passion for art and the Dutch masters. He knows the works intimately and also provides a good overview of Dutch history and culture for those of us uninformed in these areas.
At the end of the day, Pieter gave each and every one of us a hug! And he never once hinted for a gratuity, leaving it to us to decide. My wife and I enthusiastically gave him a generous tip but this was because we truly appreciated his hard work, informed guidance, and dedication to the arts.

  • Great tour and the sound was great on the individual listening devices. Very informative and educated tour guide. She had her masters and art and history.

  • All about the guide here, she did an amazing job keeping us captivated and intrigued by the lives of the artists. She pointed out key pieces and styles that we would have clearly walked by. The lunch was very simple but nice. This tour convinced us that we should never go to another museum without a guide again- you miss so much when you go alone.

  • Tour is a little drawn out. The first night in Amsterdam we booked a 4 course dinner canal cruise. Absolutely fabulous! Outstanding food, service, intimate, romantic and cruising at night through the most pleasant, scenic canals of Amsterdam.
Back to the Museum tour. The good: Tour guide was exceptional, very knowledgeable, entertaining. Began at Rijksmuseum around 9:30am when not so crowded and after checking coats or unacceptable items, we began tour. One hour in the place is packed and this was on a Wednesday morning. Felt like our guide dodged around where the crowds werent, missing a lot but she assured us we can tour the museum later the same day on our own. Included lunch very good. On to the canal cruise....boring compared to our first tour, crowded and a waste of time. Tourists dropped out after cruise from fatigue and never began or completed Van Gogh museum let alone bothering to visit the Diamond museum. We were one of them. Rijksmuseum was OUTSTANDING on its own. We are not big Van Gogh fans anyway. To friends I would recommend visiting either or both museums on their own, canal cruise is just a filler.

  • We loved this tour. Michael was an amazing guide, a historian and made us understand the works of the artists. I want to take this again next April when we are in Amsterdam once again. We never get tired of visiting these museums.

  • Our guide Pieter was just wonderful! He kept us on the go and away from the crowds as much as possible. He knew the museums and lead us to the treasures of each museum quickly and gave us wonderful insights of the art and artists. The lunch, in the museum, was well organized and nicely served. The canal ride was a wonderful break after walking through the Rijksmuseum! The skip the line was such a fantastic feature. We walked past long, long lines and went right into the museums. We really felt lucky to not have to stand in those lines! In summary, I would highly recommend this tour. It was well organized and well worth the cost.

  • The tour leader thought we were art history students and spent to much time on insignificant details.

  • Informative and interesting.

  • Originally thought this was a little pricey...but it was probably worth it. Steven was my guide. He was funny and knowledgeable. He was really good at pushing through to art pieces and bringing us along for an up-close view/explanation of the art. It's really nice to get, not only the obvious art interpretation, but he was able to give lesser known tips or folk lure behind some art/artists. Lunch was better than anticipated. Canal Cruise was nice..but the guide was a recording, so nothing above and beyond. Overall, worth it for the museums for sure.
