Know More about this tour

Experience Vatican City and see the most popular historical masterpieces and locales it has to offer human civilization. After meeting your guide in the afternoon, the expedition starts at the Vatican Museums, where you will be exposed to a plethora of Roman art from 3 artistic styles of Baroque, Renaissance and Medieval. In turn, you will also see ancient Roman sculptures, mosaics and art-craft. Dont worry, your expert guide will explain over 2000 years of Roman history along the way.

Enter the hidden Raphael Rooms, a suite of four reception rooms that are rarely publicly appreciated, and take in their frescoes or most commonly known mural paintings. Paired with Michelangelos frescoes in the Sistine Chapel, they are the famous fresco sequences that mark the High Renaissance period in Rome.

The journey continues as you make your way to the Sistine Chapel. Upon entrance, your guide will explain the life, times and works of Michelangelo and the patron of this chapel, Pope Julius II. Imagine a work of art so vast that it paints nine scenes of a story. This is Michelangelos ceiling fresco in the Sistine Chapel. Your eyes will thank you for the beauty they have just witnessed.

From there, it only gets better as you walk through one of the largest churches in the world, and one of the most recognized works of Renaissance architecture, St. Peters Basilica. St. Peters was designed by the great artists Donato Bramante, Carlo Maderno, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and Michelangelo, and holds up to 20,000 people. You will also see Piet, the most recognized religious sculpture by Michelangelo.

  • No trip to Rome is complete without a trip to the Vatican! The guide was great!

  • Gussieppe was amazing!

  • The organizers in the office were awful - they asked for 3 Euro each for headphones and said it was mandatory but then we never got headphones/nor it was needed. The waiting space was also dirty. Also we were suppose to start at 2 pm and have a 3 hr tour, and it started at 2:45 for a 2 hr tour. We saw everything we hoped to see and the tour guide herself was interesting and knowledgeable. I am glad we went on the tour but in the first week of Dec it's not needed because there are no lines!

  • although our tour was changed from afternoon to early morning, it was very well organized and there were only four of us.
Great and easy way to skip the long line and managed to tour in a very relax way.
Our tour guide was very interesting, had a very good knowledge of the history of the Vatican and the art history of the place .
    It is really worth it.

  • Our tour guide, Elena, was incredible! She covered everything thoroughly, and had lots of interesting information that we would never have known by just walking through ourselves. She was personable, and willing to wait for us if anyone in the tour wanted to take some pictures. We only wish we had booked her for seeing the rest of Rome, instead of doing it on our own.

  • Vatican was amazing, our guide was great, but is there a better time to go, too many people.

  • Vatican was amazing, our guide was great, but is there a better time to go, too many people.

  • Bloody awful, we paid to avoid the queues, but spent most of the time doing just that with 60,000 people. Could hardly hear the guide who had lost interest 20 years ago. The Vatican is a monument to bad taste, opulence and power.

  • Booked a small group tour with Viator, who used a local company. Firstly I must say that the artworks in this museum is stunning and requires a lot of time to absorb. About the tour itself: Yes, we were a small group 13 people but there were so many other groups that it was really hard to follow the guide and eventually we lost the group in the crowd. The small radios they give performs really poor and often pick up other tourguides using the same channel. We found that the guided tour did not move at the same pace as we'd like to, and also due to the huge crowds, it is hard to actually appreciate the place and its art. I believe that in our case it was not worth the money spend. The tour was advertised at 43, but I could not find this price anywhere when I booked, and in the end came to nearly double this. Keep in mind that the place is huge and 3 hrs is merely a guideline - I believe a lot more is needed. Unfortunately, again, this seems a very popular attraction and is definitely the most crowded I have ever been to, which can result in getting simply swept along with the crowd, or ushered along by the security staff. Anyone who is really interested in art and history, should investigate alternative ways to conduct their visit.
