Know More about this tour

Meet your host in Vatican City, and head to a reserved entranceway that guarantees you the fastest skip-the-line access to the Vatican Museums — beating all the other priority-entrance lines! After showing your ticket to the Vatican guard, your host will leave you to discover this compelling museum complex and the Sistine Chapel on your own.

To see everything inside the Vatican Museums would be a definite feat, as the rooms that comprise them collectively stretch a staggering 9 miles (15km) around Vatican City. However, your ticket enables you to stay for as long or little as you want, meaning you can see as much of the art-filled rooms as your heart desires.

Places not to be missed include the Gallery of the Candelabra, a long corridor packed with elegantly carved marble candelabras and sculptures, and, of course, Raphael’s Rooms – a series of four interconnecting rooms that are adorned with Renaissance frescoes by Raphael and his pupils. Amble through the Gallery of Maps, where 40 huge maps of Italy are on show, and steep yourself in early 16th-century geography as you gaze in wonder at their intricate detail.

Whatever way you choose to explore the Vatican Museums, the layout of the complex means that the Sistine Chapel is likely to be the last sight you’ll see – the Vatican obviously intended to save the best ‘til last! Awe-inspiring in every sense of the word, the 15th-century sacred chapel holds profound religious significance to the Catholic Church, as it’s the place where the papal conclave is locked to elect new popes. Matching its religious highlights in equal measures, is the Sistine Chapel’s artwork; see bedazzling masterpieces including Michelangelo’s ceiling fresco The Creation of Adam and iconic wall painting The Last Judgement.

Additional Info

Confirmation will be received at time of booking, unless booked within 1 day of travel. In this case confirmation will be received as soon as possible, subject to availability

On Wednesday departure there is the possibility that you will be unable to include St. Peter's Basilica and St. Peter's Square. This is due to the weekly Papal Audience during which access to St. Peter's Basilica could be closed. As an alternative you will be offered an extended itinerary within the Vatican Museums, which still includes the Sistine Chapel and Raphael's Rooms. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you would prefer a ticket with St. Peter's Basilica and Square guaranteed to be included, please DO NOT select Wednesday as your travel date.

We are unable to accommodate other entrance times. Entrance is strictly limited so you must arrive early. Anyone who arrives late cannot be accommodated.

We cannot predict when individual museums will be crowded. In general long lines are common at major attractions in summer, on most weekends, and during peak travel periods throughout the year (Christmas, Easter, local holidays). Our skip-the-line tickets enable you to skip the line if indeed there is one. Unfortunately there is no way to foresee which days and times will produce lines, and which will not.

On rare occasions St. Peter’s Basilica closes without notice. If this happens, we spend a full 3-hours touring the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. We will list new affected dates as they become available. The tour guides aim to notify guests if St. Peter’s Basilica is unexpectedly closed upon commencement of the tour. It is beyond our control so no refunds or discounts will be issued.

Do you cater to wheelchair users? Do you or the Vatican provide wheelchairs? For your information, Vatican Museums provide wheelchairs free of charge in the main lobby. You can easily pick one up after entrance, before starting your own independent visit. If you are looking for a guided tour with wheelchair access, we recommend booking our private tours so a guide can lead you through the alternate routes.

Backpacks, tripods and big umbrellas must be left inside a cloakroom on entering Vatican Museum. To reduce any disruption for your group, we recommend that backpacks are not taken on this tour

  • The service was top notch. I did not have access to a printer and my phone died that day however they had all appropriate information to guide me into the Vatican Museum without a hitch. If going to the museum I highly recommend their service, it saves a long wait and provides excellent customer service.

  • The lines were around the block...several blocks...It was 103 degrees so it was well worth the extra money to skip the line!

  • My daughter and I were so grateful to be in a group of 20 folks with our tour guide, Sarah. She was informative, funny, and sensitive to pacing the group through the crowds well and making sure we were all together. We learned so much and realized that visiting St. Peters without a tour guide would have been too overwhelming. The context and history Sarah gave us helped us see and understand so much!

  • St Peter's Church is one of the most amazing sites and I would highly recommend anyone to take the time to see inside this church. The experience is so much better when you have a guide who can explain the structure, history, building techniques and art work. The skip the line tickets were definitely worth the money. Make sure you have something to cover your shoulders. Men can usually get away with wearing knee length shorts.

  • We were very happy with booking our Vatican Tour through Viator. We were able to chose this tour just one day prior to visiting the Vatican, and there were massive lines going around the block at the time. The tour guide met us where indicated and provided tickets when inside the door. We got to roam around at our leisure if we desired also, which was nice.

  • 8 days taste of Italy it was fantastic .rome tour guide was great. Vatican tour I did a tour on my own over 3 hours and loved it. Accomodation was average but nice. The like minded people on this trip made it. The sights were amazing. I travelled on my own and would certainly book another tour

  • You're buying regular tickets at an inflated price, but it was worth it to us to avoid standing in the general admission line and use that time to explore other parts of the city.

  • Well organised and definitely worth skip the line. The ticket queue was at least 2 1/2 hours and even if it wasn't 38 degrees in the shade I would rather use the 2 hours for something else.
Arrive 15 minutes before, they take you to a special line for group/skip the line. 10 minutes to get through security and 10 minutes wait while they get your tickets. 45 mins tops and you are you are in. Perfect.
Vatican museum and Sistine chapel always worth it. My third time

  • Dont bother going to the Vatican Museums unless you like looking at marble statues and marble busts. Cistine Chapel was so packed we was ushered through like cattle. No pictures could be took as it was sacred.... certainly didn't feel sacred to me. Not impressed.
Cant believe I've wasted 70 on tickets for that. :-

  • We had been warned that you could be waiting hours in a queue to get into the Vatican so opted for the 'skip the line' tickets to avoid the Wait. The Vatican Museums are well worth the visit but be aware that, when we visited at the start of August, it was very busy. We also went to St Peters Basilica which, like all churches in Rome, is free to enter and not to be missed. You can pay to climb the dome which we did Very cheap - well worth it if you are up for the challenge but be aware the 560 steps are tight and steep and not for the faint hearted. The view of the church from inside the dome is amazing but take the extra steps to get up onto the top of the dome - The view from the top is amazing - the whole of Rome laid out before you.
