Starting our tour was a little slow as there was some confusion. The name of the tour was not the same for everyone, so we were not sure if we were in the right area or van. Also, if you are visiting Limon on a cruise ship, be sure to confirm your tour start time. Ship time and local time may be different, which it was for us, resulting in some people showing up early and others late. Nonetheless, we had a wonderful time on this excursion. At our first stop on this small group eco-tour, we boarded a river boat to explore the banks of the Tortuguero Canal. The hour-long cruise was filled with vibrant birds, sleepy sloths, vocal howler monkeys and other rain forest inhabitants visible from inside our boat. When it was difficult to locate some of the animals, our tour guide, Alberto, was excellent at spotting the wildlife and guiding our untrained eyes to their tree top perches. After debarking from the river boat, we headed to a local banana plantation where we enjoyed a brief lesson, about 30 minutes, in the cultivation of bananas, cacao and coffee. Again, Alberto, did a fabulous job, explaining the farm's organic practices and processing steps. We even got to taste the fruits picked fresh from the plants. Our last stop was Cahuita National Park, a small (by American standards), but incredibly beautiful nature reserve that did not disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed our 45-minute walk through the park taking in all the amazing views and learning more about the local flora and fauna. This tour was everything we hoped it would be.

Luis and Jordy were experts at finding wildlife and bringing our boat around so we could all see the critters and get photos - even in the pouring rain. It was an excellent, memorable day and I highly recommend this trip.

We took this tour from our cruise ship, so easy. Small group which was what we hoped for. Our guide Steven and driver ‘Mr Gato’ were brilliant. Found so many animals that we wouldn’t have seen without them. Would highly recommend this trip...it was over too quickly.

My husband and I were on the NCL Joy when we booked this directly with the company. Mario, Greenway Tours owner, was wonderful with email communication. We did the small group Sloth Lovers tour. It was a little drizzly when we arrived but the day proceeded to clear and never had any more rain and brilliant sunshine. When leaving the ship, you have to walk thru the security and outside the port area which we knew. Rinalto was waiting with a sign with my name and walked us to the van. We did wait almost an hour though for 2 ppl who never showed. Rinalto did apologize for this and I understand waiting a bit of time, but this seemed excessive to all of us waiting on the van. There were 15 total people. Rinalto was very informative and energetic. When he found out I really wanted to hopefully see/photograph sloths (which I found unusual since I thought that was the tour I was on), he made it a point to find them! And we did. You drive in the van awhile passing banana plantations of which he explains the process to get to Cahuita NP. While there, there are bathrooms and a nature trail to walk or you can walk along the coast. Beautiful. We saw white faced monkeys, raccoons, Blue Morpho butterfly and a moving sloth!! I was so excited and so was Rinalto. Then we boarded the van again and stopped for a bathroom break and to grab a few souvenirs. Wished there was more time here as the bathroom lines especially for ladies are always long. 15 mins. was not enough time. We continued to drive to get on the boat for our Eco Cruise on the Tortuguero’s canals. Our boat driver was great with eagle eyes as we saw monkeys, sloths, iguanas, birds etc. Weather was delightful. There was some fruit for us at the end of this and a bottle of water. Then we drove back to the port with Rinalto talking about the earthquakes in Costa Rica and other information with time for some shopping there. All in all a great day and we even hugged when we said goodbye.

Despite it raining when we arrived, greenway tour guides when out of their way to make our experience fun and memorable. By the time the rain cleared, we were able to see an amazing amount of slotted and had a great time. Pick up is outside the port gate, it was super easy.

We grabbed this trip from the port off of our cruise ship. It was reasonably priced and got us into a smaller group than what the ship would offer. They were easy to find off the ship and they pointed out a sloth as we were walking to the bus! We were led by Steven. He was great at explaining the local way of life as we drove. We pulled over to see the banana plantation. We hiked part of a rain forest and saw and heard howler monkeys and watched them play in the trees. We also saw a sloth moving in the trees. I was very pleased with the amount of animals we saw. We then had a boat ride and saw sloths and monkeys as well as various birds and a crocodile. It was a great and informative trip.

We had an amazing guide who grew up in Limon and also spoke English flawlessly. He knew the answers to all the questions. Most importantly, when the weather was bad and we were unable to hike into the rainforest he was able to pivot and take us to a private property to make sure we saw a sloth. On our river cruise portion we saw so much wildlike. It was truly amazing. Our guide is also a fabulous photographer and was able to take some great sloth pictures for me.
