Your first stop is the dramatic and imposing Predjama Castle, which has been perched in a gaping hole in the middle of a 400-foot (123-meter) cliffside for the last 700 years. Learn about the history of the castle, including its most famous resident: 15th-century Erazam, a knight that some refer to as a robber baron.
From there, move on to kocjan Caves, one of the largest Karst caves in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The caves are considered one of the great natural wonders on the planet and are not to be missed. While there, enjoy some of the Karst region's prosciutto and a glass of local wine.
Then its on to Lipica* to commune with the towns famous residents: the white Lipizzaners, the famed horses from the Spanish riding school in Vienna.
After cruising along Slovenias 28-mile (46-km) coast and passing the seaside towns of Koper, Izola and Portoroz, stop in Piran. • Skocjan Caves are really worth a visit and Piran is a nice coastal town.

  • Everything was fantastic, the tour guide was nice and friendly and the places we visited were worth going. Especially Piran is a beautiful city indeed.

The tour claimed the max. people were 8 in a group but turned out more than that. I don't mind the extra nos. but they shouldn't have stated this on the web. if it's not the case.

It would be perfect if the tour spare 45 mins for us to visit the castle. It was a pity we just hanging around outside but no time exploring inside.

  • This tour was amazing!

  • Excellent guide in a very enjoyable excursion.

  • Can't say enough - 10 stars! Luka was an engaging guide and driver. The small group size - no more than 8 - allows for personalized experience and flexibility. Perfect Slovenian sampler - you mountains, farmland and seaside - such variety in a small country. Skocjan was otherworldly and Piran enchanting!

  • Great guide and would recommend the tour if you want to pack in seeing a lot of different landscapes within limited time, and without the hassle of public transport. The Skocjan Caves were an incredible highlight, and we had a lot of fun stepping into the beaut, clear Adriatic Sea whilst in Piran!

  • Great guide and great trip with Roundabout Tours! Our guide/driver was local, friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and a great conversationalist... able to add insights/history/facts into our drive, relevant to the conversations happening and to the towns/sights we visited. The caves were AMAZING, seeing the castle was very cool, and Piran was a great little town plenty of time to go for a swim and eat some fresh seafood in a cafe. Highly recommend!

  • Amazing range of scenery with an excellent, friendly guide. Highly recommended. A long day, but not rushed.
