Throughout the year, on every Wednesday and Saturday at 10.15am, we all meet up at Szeml-hegyi Cave. After an introduction with your English speaking professional guide, you'll be taken through a geographical exhibition and learn about the complex system of caves under Budapest. Then it's off to explore the spectacular world of crystal and mineral deposits, with their beautiful cave corals and calcite plates.
Because the 2 caves are unconnected underground, we'll take a comfortable stroll of about 1 km, on the pavement, to the next cave. Pl-vlgyi Cave is famous for it's remarkable stalactite and stalagmite formations and dazzling calcite-crystals. Also be sure to check out the awesome echo chambers. Along the way your guide will point out all the points of interest and is more than happy to answer any questions whether geology or history. The tour ends with a look at the quarry from one of the cave's many secluded exits. Public bus No. 65 stops near the caves entrance to take you back to downtown!
In both caves, you'll be walking along paved walkways and be taken along routes which are unique to us and unused by any other tour. Keep in mind that the temperature remains around 12 C (54 F) all year, so we advise you to bring some warmer clothing along with sensible shoes.
