Know More about this tour

After morning hotel pickup by your guide, your day trip starts with a 1.5-hour speedboat ride along the Saigon River to the Cu Chi Tunnels site.

Nibble on a light breakfast of pastries, fresh fruit and Vietnamese iced coffee on the boat as you watch the riverside landscape change from city sprawl to lush jungle. Listen to commentary from your guide about rural traditions and life along the riverbanks until you reach Cu Chi, where your guide fits you with a top-quality mountain bike and helmet for your 2.5-hour bike ride.

While you pedal at a leisurely pace for 15-19 miles (25-30 km) on back roads and dirt trails, you'll see the villages, plantations and green rubber forests of southern Vietnam. Stop for photo ops and a light snack before returning to the Cu Chi Tunnels. With your guide, explore the tunnels, visiting underground bunkers used for kitchens, meeting rooms, living quarters and medical treatment. See a firing range and displays of weapons and booby traps, and then taste local cassava root, which sustained Viet Cong fighters during the lean years of the Vietnam War (known as the American War in Vietnam).

Next, enjoy a Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant, and then make the 1.5-hour drive back to Ho Chi Minh City by air-conditioned van. Your tour ends with hotel drop-off.

  • The boat ride up was informative and fun. Duke the river guide was the best tour guide and English speaking Vietnamese person we found all holiday. He was funny and tried to keep a 1.5 hour ride up to the tunnels a light hearted affair. He handed our small family group over to Phat who took a little while to warm up but his knowledge and talk at the Tunnels was first class. I would question the idea of a 26km bike tour before the tunnels as the last 10kms done after a rest stop were only more of the same plantations and canals and back roads.Novelty had well and truly worn off by then as had a lot of the skin on my butt! Whilst the bikes were first class and performed faultlessly the last 10 kms were not necessary and 26 kms is a LONG way!

  • Phat was a great tour guide. The cycling route took us well away from the usual tourist trail, and we really enjoyed the personalised service. Would highly recommend

  • This tour was exactly what we wanted. The minibus arrived promptly and we were transported to the river to start the journey by boat to Cui Chi. When we arrived we were met by our bike guide, Sam from Grasshopper Adventures. Sam was a great guide, taking us through the countryside for a 3 hour bike journey, explaining what we were passing and what to notice along the journey. We had a break along route where the driver met up with us and we enjoyed some wonderful fresh fruit and cold drinks before continuing on to the Cui Chi tunnels. The section of tunnels we toured were further from HCMC and therefore less crowded. Both Sam and the local guide were very knowledgeable and made the experience one we won't forget. At the end we were transported back by minibus to our hotel. All in all a terrific experience and great day out. Well organized tour and great value for money.

  • Great tour. Guide was knowledgeable and kept things interesting. I would highly recommend this tour for people interested in a long bike ride through more undiscovered parts of Vietnam as well as a less touristy experience at the Cu Chi Tunnels.
