Know More about this tour

Depart from your accommodation in Cairns (6:45am), Palm Cove (7:15am), or Port Douglas (7:45am) and travel through rich farming areas toward the World Heritage-listed forest region of the Daintree National Park. The Wet Tropics are one of the richest sites for biodiversity on the planet, and Daintree is a place of rugged mountains, deep gorges and flowing rivers.

Step aboard your own craft for a cruise along the smooth waters of the Daintree River under the overhead canopies. Spot Ulysses butterflies, Kingfishers, pythons, and other wildlife and cruise the silent backwaters where crocodiles can usually be seen basking on the muddy banks. Arriving on the northern side of the river, enter the Daintree section of the Wet Tropics World Heritage protected rainforest and enjoy a home-made morning tea underneath the rainforest canopy.

Next, head to the beautiful Alexandra Range, passing through local rainforest along the way. Take a scenic hike through this incredible ecosystem with a guided walk to view ancient plants and fascinating wildlife. Get an insight from your guide into the local aboriginal culture.

The next stop is to one of the pristine beaches that adorn the coastline of Cape Tribulation, where your guide will highlight the wildlife and ecosystems unique to this part of the world. Enjoy a delicious included lunch of rainforest-inspired local produce amid the serenity of the jungle. Get to see reptiles and frogs in the area or see the kangaroos and wallabies at a nearby private zoo.

After lunch, see unusual, exotic fruit trees originating from all over the globe's tropical regions. The orchard here is also host to some exotic species of tropical flowering plants, both native and introduced. The sole purpose of the fruit grown here is to make pure, fresh, ice-cream and sorbet, which is made on the property and sold nowhere else on the globe. (Ice-cream is an optional extra.)

The last stop is the outstanding panoramic view at Alexandra Range Lookout. From here, enjoy spectacular views of the mouth of the Daintree River, Snapper Island, and (on a clear day) Port Douglas. One final treat for the day is the crossing on the Daintree River Ferry the iconic vehicle punt that transfers you out of the rainforest at the end of the day.

The tour concludes at your original departure point at around 4pm.

We did the Daintree Wanderer Tour, with Australian Luxury Escapes and it was just fantastic. Our guide Rick was just what you hope for- friendly, knowledgeable, took off beaten track, engaged our children and ensured our day was full and varied. We were lucky enough to see 3 crocs swimming in the river, as well as a Cassowary casually strolling by as we ate our home made morning tea Rick brought along with him. Rick was filled with facts and titbits of info which we loved. The beaches are fabulous and the Rainforest felt rich and thriving which is great to see. We got brilliant service and I couldn’t recommend Rick and this tour more to anyone wanting a personalised and unique tour experience.

There were 4 people on this tour, which was delightful. I don't remember our guides name, but he was very knowledgeable about the area flora and fauna. We had lunch at a cafe, with delicious food, and an chance to feed a group of wallaby's while waiting for our food. I would consider this to be a must do.

The tour was beautiful, feeding the kangaroos was awesome. Our guide was attentive and knowledgeable. Seeing the cassowary in the wild was amazing. We appreciated you still taking us on the tour even though there were only two of us.

I went on this tour with my mom, mostly because she was concerned that we would need a 4WD to go to Cape Trib (you're not, but the tour was still great and worth it). Rick our guide was extremely passionate about his job, shared lots of information on the drive there after pick up (we were picked up straight from our AirBnb) and it didn't feel touristy at all. We had a nice lunch, fed wallabys and were a fun group with our guide and 4 guests incl. ourselves. I suppose we kinda missed out on Mossman Gorge but I didn't even realize that wasn't part of the agenda. Plenty of time to wander around, ask questions, and explore. We walked past lots of very touristy groups of 20+ people and it felt exhausting.

We were picked up from our hotel in Port Douglas by our guide Frank who drove us up the coast to the Daintree National Park. We started with an hour-long boat trip up the river near Daintree village in an attempt to view crocodiles but unfortunately, none were spotted. Following our cruise, we had a morning tea and cake break at Thornton Beach followed by a walk over the Dubuji Boardwalk (part of a coastal rain forest) down to Myall beach. After feeding some rescued wallabies and an excellent lunch at the Lync Haven restaurant we walked along the Jindalba Boardwalk (part of an in-land rain forest). Frank was very informative and there was no time pressure at any of the stops. A very good and varied tour which we are glad we had booked. Highly recommended and excellent tour.

What a great day! Our small-group was small--just us (wife and me)--meaning that we were highly fortunate to have Rick provide us with a personal tour of Daintree, a gem of Australia and the world. Rick is very knowledgeable and personable naturalist. From the beach to the highlands and the Daintree River, he related much about the natural and human history of the region, including something of the Aboriginal peoples. The tour also included a riverboat ride (where we saw crocodiles, a cute tree snake, and a variety of birds among the lush flora), a delicious lunch (and chance to feed and pet some wallabies), and a yummy ice cream stop (bring cash for this treat) featuring local tropical flavors. One highlight was encountering a cassowary dad and his chick out and about: Why did the cassowaries cross the road? I don't know but it was a memorable treat for us. I can't overstate Rick's knowledge and excellent guidance. This was a great experience.
