Know More about this tour

Your tour starts at Battery Park, where you'll get a little context for your upcoming visits by exploring the memorials around the park, which rarely get the attention they deserve by visitors rushing to catch the ferry. Spend some time at the Castle Clinton National Monument, Pier A Harbor House, the American Merchant Mariners Memorial, the Sphere, and New York Korean War Veterans Memorial.

Then its off to Liberty Island with priority boarding to get the best seats on the ferry; because you're leaving early (often on the first ferry, depending on the time of year), youll arrive at the Statue of Liberty before the crowds. Once there, enjoy stunning views of the city and take a guided tour that leads you right up to the pedestal, getting you closer to Lady Liberty than the standard visit.

Here, your guide tells you a little about the citys greatest icon. Gifted to the US by France and designed by their finest architects, including Gustav Eiffel (whose Parisian tower you may be familiar with), Lady Liberty wasnt as warmly received as you might think. Hear all about the struggle that got her on her feet and eventually became dear to the people of New York.

Then return to the ferry for the cruise over to Ellis Island, where youll follow in the footsteps of 12 million immigrants. From your guide, learn about the lengthy immigration process they went through, walking the Stairs of Separation to understand the islands two very different names, The Island of Hope and The Island of Tears.' Explore the museums impressive collection of interactive displays, and ask your guide any questions you have before your tour ends here; you can stay a little longer if youd like, or head back to the ferry with your guide to return to Manhattan.

With small groups of 20 people or fewer and early morning ferries to the islands, your tour is typically quiet and relaxed, removing the hassles of the average visit. And with an expert guide on hand, youre certain to learn a thing or two, getting more from your experience than you would by visiting these sites on your own.

Definitely recommend when you visit NYC

  • Dan, our guide, was great. He was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining and caring. It was a fantastic tour and we would highly recommend it to all those who are visiting New York for the first time and even New Yorkers. It was truly a memorable experience and well worth the cost.

  • Jeffery , our tour guide was the best. He went above and beyond for all of us.

  • The small group tour was great.

  • Very well done tour and so nice to have the history laid out for you. Cherice was very knowledgable and was a great guide! Would highly recommend.

  • Our guide Alvaro was excellent. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable.Would recommend this tour, learnt a lot about attitudes to immigration in the past and the pride that America has in its policies then.

  • A nice experience. It is nice to visit the sites with a little historical background. Alvaro did a nice job and kept our attention for the entire excursion. When you arrive you will want to make sure you are at the Pier A building. It is a long white building along the water. We were dropped off at the main ferry terminal and it took us a bit to figure out where we were suppose to be...

  • The early morning tour is the one to choose to avoid the crowds. Really good small group tour with a guide who provided a really good insight.

  • Tour guide we had was nice but not great. We were rushed at points and missed a lot of history at Ellis Island. We were not even allowed 10-15 mins to take pictures in front of the Statue and she made us run to catch a boat just to miss it in the end. At Ellis island she didn't even take us outside to show us the grounds as MANY tours had that were less money then what we paid. I would have saved my money and went with a cheaper tour. She keep saying Wendy Willians jokes that NO one even got or cared about.

  • Alvaro was a highly entertaining and knowledgeable tour guide. He was able to make the Ellis Island experience come alive through both story telling and some of his personal experiences. I would strongly recommend this tour.
