Know More about this tour

This tour starts with the Norman city of Rouen, where Claude Monet painted the Cathedral series. Our walking tour through the streets of Rouen will bring centuries of history to life and give you the chance to discover: Cathedral, Saint-Maclou church, the Gros Horloge or ClockTower, the Renaissance Parliament of Normandy, Church Of St. Joan Of Arc and the old market place

In the afternoon the guide will share with you the almost otherworldly beauty of Claude Monet's home and gardens in Giverny. Learn about the famous Impressionist and explore his colored home, stroll along the charming paths of his flower garden, and admire the water garden with the little green bridge and lake full of his famous water lilies. You'll enjoy Skip-the-line access and Pick up & Drop off to your accommodation in Paris.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TOUR :

This trip was fantastic. We met our guide close to our flat and he drove us to Giverny in the morning and then to Rouen in the afternoon. He was very engaging and provided context and translations throughout the entire trip. We learned a great deal about Monet, the grounds, and the city of Giverny. When we went to Rouen, he brought us to an area with several cafes to choose from for lunch. Then we met back up and did a walking tour of historic Rouen. He explained locations and provided history and details that we would have never learned on our own. It really was a wonderful experience. He also took pictures of our family throughout the day. I cannot recommend this tour company enough. You won't regret it.

Wonderful day trip. Jean Paul was one of the best guides we've ever had. Very personable and well -versed in art and history. Knew how to avoid crowds at water garden. There was a chemical explosion in Rouen and Normandy Melody was able to substitute Auver for Rouen. Loved it and their masterful handling of the situation!

Four of us took this trip to Giverny to see Monets gardens. What a gorgeous place! So peaceful and beautiful. The town is so cute, even though w didn’t get much chance there it was still so lovely. Then on to Rouen, a gothic city outside of Giverny approximately one hours drive. The achiectecture is so romantic and different from that of Paris, with Joan of Arcs resting place and this incredible lunch we had near the tomb. It was an unforgettable day. Rely on Normandy Melody for your tours! Very reliable.

Mixed reviews - this trip has been on our bucket list for ages. After an 8am pickup, we appreciated being able to arrive in Giverny before the crowds. We had a clear view of the waterlilies and no line into his home. However, the guide drove way too fast on the highway to get us there early - at times, we were doing 150-160km in a 120 on a busy French motorway, which was very disconcerting especially with our kids in the minivan. He almost hit a motorcyclist. We would have gladly gotten picked up at 7:30 in order to drive safely and get there early. While Giverny was wonderful, we were on the grounds for far too long which dampened the enjoyment. After touring the gardens with the knowledgeable guide, we were left on our own to view the house with a meeting time in 1.5 hours which was far too much time. Only 30 minutes was needed (especially when there was no line), and we ended up just hanging out (kids bored!), waiting to meet our guide at the agreed time. Upon the meeting time, we embarked on a nice walk in the village and then we were left in an okay restaurant with rude, slow service (felt like staff really hated tourists) for lunch on our own. We then drove to Rouen and felt rushed. Our guide showed us around the town with some commentary on the sites, but overall, it felt like we were buzzing through things to finish on time - for example, we didn't really talk about Joan of Arc at the end/site of her death, which is one of the thing the kids wanted to hear about. All of a sudden, it's "you have 20 minutes on your own while I retrieve the van, and then we're heading back to Paris". It would have been better to finish in Giverny mid-morning, and then do lunch in Rouen (lots of lovely choices!) and take our time in the city vs. being so rushed. Also, tour companies must make traveling speed limit mandatory!

Gardens and water lily pond visit a must. Very beautiful. Can now understand why Monet chose this place and the stunning beauty of his work. Highlight of Rouen visit was Eglise of Jean d'Arc; stained glass unassuming from exterior but magnificent from interior. Jean Paul and Sarah both knowledgeable and very friendly. A must visit!!!!

My husband and I visited Paris for a week with our 2 adult children and wanted to spend a day outside of the city. We booked this tour offered by Normandy Melody and were extremely pleased. Sara picked us up outside our Airbnb promptly at the prearranged time and made our excursion to Rouen and Giverny stress free. I highly recommend this company
