Our experience with our guide Rasaid and his employer ParisCityVision was very disappointing.
We were on time and arrived before the 08:15 meeting time to be told that we would
not be leaving until after 08:30. We entered Rasaid's van by 08:40 and drove to the
train station to meet 2 other guests. They were to arrive by 09:00. Rasaid found them
waiting in the wrong place at 9:40. We then left for St Emillion. He spoke to them in
Spanish and to us in English. Upon arriving to the city center, Rasaid walked us
around to the street in front of the tourist center and pointed over to where a
street descended into the lower part of the city center. He said we had 20 minutes.
That was not the 1 hour guided tour that was described. We returned as asked and,
while waiting for his return which was after the time he had told us, found a WC around the old church and not in the tourist
bureau as he had told us. The trip to the winery was fine and as described.
Unfortunately the facility person could not switch between English and Spanish so we
learned what we could from what we could remember from high school Spanish. We all then returned to Bordeaux and Rasaid dropped us off near the Music Hall with
instructions to return in 90 minutes at 14:30. The 4 of us met at 14:25. Rasaid did
not appear until 15:10. He said that while waiting on line at a sandwich shop, his
car had been parked in a no parking area and had been towed. He said it took some
time to pay the fine and retrieve the van. He told us the tour would be extended 30
minutes to make up for the loss. But instead of a 2 hour walking tour of Bordeaux as
described, we had a 1 hour van ride through the traffic of Bordeaux with one stop
across the river that ended at 16:30 which was the original time the tour was to end. This was not the experience that we paid for. We have booked several tours this
cruise with several vendors, including Viatour. I had hesitated to write thinking
that this disappointment would be repeated. It was not. It has been the only tour of
the several we have taken to date that has been so unlike what was described. We do
not have another day in Bordeaux to make it up.I have asked Viator that this company's presence on this website be reconsidered. Viator suggested that I take the matter up with them directly. I have asked Viator to post this warning on all their tours Please know all tours are provided on a Buyers' Beware basis as we take no responsibility for their inability to provide the tour as described and such descriptions are only a suggestion of what is to be provided.
