Know More about this tour

After a 1-hour drive through rice fields and brackish ponds, during which your tour guide will introduce you to the peculiarities of the Camargue, you will be dropped off at the beautiful Bird Park of Pont de Gau (admission ticket included). Created by a family of nature lovers in 1949, the Bird Park is situated in the heart of the regional nature park of the Camargue, which is how we call the delta of the Rhne river. There's no better place to observe the iconic bird of the region. An easy walk along marshes and ponds, following a well-signed footpath, will allow you to get very close to pink flamingos, that cohabit here with hundreds of other bird species.
The Camargue is also a country of traditions and history. Meet your driver again and head to the charming coastal town of Saintes Maries de la Mer. Discover the legend that led to the construction of the impressive fortified church Our Lady from the Sea, known in France for the celebrations it holds for each Mary's feast, in May and October. The feast held in May draws large numbers of Roma Catholics to the town for a week. They come here to worship the relics of Sarah, their patron saint. Don't miss a visit to the interiors of the church, dating back to the beginning of the 11th century, and enjoy a panoramic view from the sentry walk on the roof (4/adult). Afterwards head to the beach, where you can go for a relaxing walk along the promenade, where reproductions of Van Gogh's paintings are exhibited, or for a swim in the Mediterranean Sea. Don't forget to taste some local specialties, like seafood, bull meat and rice (lunch not included).
After lunch, meet your guide again and continue the journey through wild landscapes and picturesque farms, ranches and salt marshes. Your tour guide will stop along the way to observe and photograph Camargue horses and bulls. These animals are a fundamental element of the region's culture, where it is not unusal to come across a bull race or a folklore event involving horses.
Before getting back to Avignon, discover Aigues Mortes, one of the highlights of the region, a wonderfully preserved walled city dating back in the 13th century. Funded by King Louis IX in 1240 as a starting base for the Crusades, Aigues Mortes comes out from nowhere among salt pans and rice fields. Its massive rampart shelters narrow paved streets and small squares, where you can do some shopping and taste delicious local desserts. You can also opt for a walk on the sentry walk atop the rampart, which is the best way to spot the neighboring salt marshes.

Nico was an excellent guide who went above and beyond to make our experience relaxed and enjoyable. He is very knowledgeable about the area and its best assets. Thank you Team Provan for a lovely day amongst the wildlife and history of the Camargue.

Thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Nico gave us a great tour. Able time at the Camargue Le Park Ornitholoque to see flamingos etc Did see the Carmague horse and bulls. Visited Sainted Marie de La Merseaside town by Mediterranean Sea(walked on the beach) and Argues-Mortes town(walked around the fortified wall) If you bring a towel, you can go for quick dip to your knees

Our guide Nicholas was wonderful and friendly and I had a wonderful day out. Seeing flamingos in the wild was a bucket list item and I was not disappointed. To see them fly was a real treat. We also had time to explore the towns of Saintes Maries de la mer and Aigues Mortes. Highly recommend ProVans for their personalised approach and small group tours

I took the Carmague tour alone after my friend fell sick. It was a great experience. Nicolas was a very knowledgeable Guide talking about the region, history and customs. I was lucky and had a rather private tour with one more customer. The van was clean, modern and made traveling very comfortable. Nicholas drove safely and filled the driving time with facts about the area, history and stories which was very pleasant. We visited several little villages, the bird park and stopped along the route for horses and bulls. We received recommendations for places to eat or things to try if you were curious about food. In comparison to other tours one never felt rushed and could enjoy the different places. I can highly recommend him as a guide, since he is a very friendly, knowledgeable and open minded person. We had a blast and enjoyed ourselves a lot. Merci beaucoup !

We were in Avignon for five days and we did three tours with ProVans - the yellow (van Gogh and Roman remains), orange (Luberon Villages) and pink (Camargue) tours. All tours were with Nicholas who is very charming with excellent English. The tours run smoothly and to time with prompt pick up from, and on time return to, the tourist office in Avignon. We did not have a car and did not want the hassle of driving and parking so these tours were a great alternative to that. In three days we saw all that we were wanting to see in the area without having to find and use public transport that would have been impossible particularly for seeing the Luberon villages. We saw and did so much. I loved the Van Gogh trail of the yellow tour, the Luberon villages were fantastic and I was delighted to see the flamingos of the Camargue. If we had visited a couple of weeks later when the lavender was flowering I would have been happy to do the purple tour as well. The tours are well sized with a max of 8 people. Highly recommended.

We saw so many flamingos, bulls and horses, all of them from close and for enough time to enjoy them and to take photos. Then we visited Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer with a lunch break and finally Aigues-Mortes where we could go up to the tower and walk around on the wall to take photos of the salt pond and the village.
