Know More about this tour

Start in St. Marks Square, taking a moment to appreciate the space before heading into St. Marks Cathedral. As you explore the inside, learn how Venice built a mercantile empire that once spanned the entire Mediterranean from your guide. Youll also get special access to the first floor terrace where you can see the famous horses stolen from Constantinople during the Fourth Crusade as well as amazing views over St Marks Square and the city.

Next its off to the Doges Palace, where pre-reserved tickets once again get you past the lines and inside what was the political heart of the empire for hundreds of years. Visit the opulent apartments and the Hall of the Great Council where matters of state were decided under beautiful frescoes by Veronese and Tintoretto.

See the Armory and the New Prisons, where youll learn about the grim lives of those unlucky enough to be taken prisoner, and hear the secret behind the mysterious black veil that interrupts the official series of Doges portraits. Hint: it will make you not want to work in Venetian government.

Finally, youll wander over the Bridge of sighs and learn the real story behind this romantic icon.

Venice is a beautiful city, but it doesnt really come to life until you have a guide to take you deep into the area's history and lore. In a group of no more than 25 people, you'll be able to ask all the questions you want about one of the worlds most unique cities.

The terrace of St. Mark's Basilica, the prisons and the armory of the Doge's Palace are not wheelchair-accessible, as a result of which we cannot accommodate wheelchairs on this tour.

St. Mark's Basilica can be subject to unforeseen closures due to particular liturgical celebrations. In the case in which the basilica is closed, we will give you explanations from the outside.

Please remember that the basilica is a holy place and attire must be appropriate: Both men and women are asked to wear clothing that covers at least the shoulders and knees. Walks of Italy cannot be held responsible for denied entry due to improper dress. Backpacks are prohibited inside of St. Mark's Basilica.

This tour runs rain or shine. However, occasionally St. Mark's Basilica and the Doge's Palace are closed to the public, without previous notice, due to high tides or particular festivities. In these cases customers are contacted as soon as possible to arrange a suitable alternative.

Susan our guide met us at the time and place as arranged. She was very friendly and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent seeing these wonderful sights in Venice.

Fantastic afternoon spent exploring St Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace .
Our guide Mose’ was informative , funny and organised the tour well with a short break between the two buildings .
A good sized group and we were kitted out with headsets which although occasionally suffering from interference, in general worked well.
Would recommend this tour to any one wanting an excellent introduction to two of Venice’s iconic buildings.

Excellent tour. Rather expensive (£57) but fascinating experience, not to be missed. These are the two essential locations to visit in Venice.

This was a good tour with a lot of info that you would not have gotten otherwise. However, when you advertise that a tour is Skip the Line, you should specify ‘only in high season’. I was there in Carnival and figured it would be very busy so I booked this tour specifically to skip the line but our tour guide said we could not do that during the off season so we stood in line with all those who only paid a couple euros for the audio tour.

This was probably one of the best tours I have ever been on. Our guide, Mose, was engaging, interesting and funny. So many amazing details, much much more than we heard that others learned from their similar tours of St Marks Church, Tge Doges Palace, Bridget of Sighs and the adjacent prison. Three full hours and was not bored once. Mode was great. I felt like I understood what I was seeing and everything was put into the context of the time. Fascinating tour. Worth every cent!

Our guide was incredible! We felt like we learned so much. The 3 hours went by so quick. Wish we had more time.

Great tour - our guide Francesca was very informative and made our tour most enjoyable. Strongly recommend.

Incredible tour, highly recommend. Gives you so much information on the history of Venice. Our guide provided so much information and was highly knowledgeable.

The tour was well organised: meeting location was easy to find by the Museum Correr and registration swift. Our guide was well informed (is an archeologist) and imparted a wealth of information (fact, fiction and opinion). I enjoyed the time spent in the Doge’s Palace. The timing worked well as the sun was at its highest - good time to visit the Basilica and view its golden interior (and avoid any crowds). The tour was educational. Warning - while the tour is in the palace and basilica, it is cold inside. Wrap up warm.
    Worthwhile - to queue jump

Informative tour however if you are not that interested in history you may not enjoy. Disappointing we were unable to take photos inside. I can understand no flash photography but would been great to have some memories.
