Know More about this tour

You’ll be picked up from central Munich in the morning for your day trip to two gems of the Bavarian Alps: Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace. On your scenic 1.5-hour drive, your expert guide provides commentary about the history and significance of the Bavaria region and its attractions. Your luxury coach offers comfortable seats, panoramic windows, Wi-Fi and a restroom, ensuring optimal comfort throughout your journey. Enjoy a complimentary snack box on board, with additional snacks and drinks available for purchase.

Your first stop is Linderhof Palace, a small palace built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Though inspired by France’s Versailles Palace, Linderhof’s interior is actually rather private and humble, as you’ll see on your 1-hour guided tour, but head to the surrounding gardens and you’ll discover why they’re considered among the most beautiful in the world, combining elements of Baroque, Italian Renaissance and English styles.
Leaving Linderhof behind, head next to Oberammergau, where you’ll have about 30 minutes of free time to walk around. Wander the lanes of this quaint village and see beautiful examples of the traditional art of woodcarving.

Continue driving along famous Romantic Road to the foot of majestic Neuschwanstein Castle. Before hiking up the hill for your guided tour of the castle, you can either have lunch (own expense) or set out for Mary's Bridge (Marienbrücke), the best spot for postcard views of the castle.
The most famous of three royal palaces built for King Louis II of Bavaria, Neuschwanstein sits on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau. Take a guided tour of the 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace to learn about its peculiar past: it was intended as a personal refuge for the reclusive, crazed king, but it was opened to the public after his death in 1886.
Today Neuschwanstein is an architectural icon; in fact, it inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and closely resembles Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland!

After your tour of the castle, relax on the drive back to Munich.

  • A real good tour and I recommend it. Be warned that a VERY challenging hike awaits you when you go to Schloss Neuschwanstein. Also, very challenging in the winter to the short daylight time. The intermediate stop to see one of the nicest Baroque churches was an unexpected bonus to the trip.

  • This was a terrific tour, well worth the cost. The motor coach was very comfortable and well-supplied with snacks and beverages including good beer from Munich!. The tour guide was very friendly and quite knowledgeable about the castles as well as all of the sights along the way. Everything was organized perfectly: the precisely-timed admission to Neuschwanstein castle, time for touring in the cute Bavarian towns of Schwangau and Oberammergau, and a relaxed tour of Linderhof Castle. The guide and driver made the day-long tour feel more like a delightful outing with friends than a commercial tour. We loved it!

  • The tour bus was small group but the castle tours themselves were with other groups, and very large. The quoted trip said lunch in Oberamergau and no mention of a church, but we just drove through Oberamergau, found snack lunches at the castle. The church stop was interesting, but the priest stopped the service to chide us for going to look at the famous statue, although we were quiet and very respectful.

  • Absolutely amazing! I highly recommend. Our tour guide and driver were incredible. A must do!

  • The Neuschwanstein Castle portion of the tour was very nice. Our guide and presentation was excellent. So was the coach and driver. t
The Linderhof Castle portion of the tour disappointing, as the fountains were closed for winter and repairs were in process. Also we had expected a more substantial snack box. You may consider more fresh items with lower sugar content. The cost was much to high for a rushed tour.

  • Great tour! We did a lot and saw a lot! Great tour guide!

  • Trip of a lifetime and the bus adds to it.

  • the luxury coach was wonderful and the tour guide and driver were amazing! highly recommend this tour

  • This small group tour was one of the best Ive been on, the guide was great, the bus was comfortable. Everyone had their own large seat per row. We were given a snack box, fruit, water and there was tea and coffee facilities on the bus. Both castles were beautiful and really worth seeing, we had enough time at each to enjoy them, it wasnt rushed at all. I highly recommend this tour.

  • The coach, our driver and tour guide were lovely. However, I have two major complaints: 1 Each location definitely felt quite rushed and 2 Each tour was just given by audioguides/location guides. I greatly prefer to get more in-depth information and a behind the scenes look from my tours. Also, ensure that since you go to Oberammergau, it is on a day when the shops are open, or you will be very bored for 45 minutes.
