Know More about this tour

Youll be picked up at your accommodation and swept off from Reykjavik to the west. First, you'll view Snfellsjkull volcano, which wears a magnificent crown of ice, the highest peak in this area of Iceland and it is often visible on clear days from Reykjavik. It was here that Jules Verne chose as the entrance to the earth's core in his novel 'Journey to the Center of the Earth'.

Next you'll visit Ytri-Tunga is a charming farm with a nearby beach that is also a popular seal colony. Animal lovers will enjoy seeing the seals cute faces as they sunbathe and play in the surf.

Arnarstapi and Hellnar are located in a lovely coastal area with a natural harbor. Beautiful rock formations decorate the coastline, spotted with green-and-yellow moss, and you can stroll along the cliffs here to take in the refreshing sea air.

Look for Lndrangar, two black basalt columns marking the coast, so tall they can be seen from the road. Djpalnssandur is another gorgeous black beach, where the air is filled with the sounds of birds circling the cliffs and the ocean waves hitting the sand.

At Djpalnssandur, youll find a curiosity on the beach: four large, smooth stones. They are lifting stones, used to measure the strength of fishermen who once worked and lived all along the coasts here. The biggest one is called Fullsterkur (Full-Strength) and weighs 154 kg (340 lbs). If you decide to have a go, be sure to lift with your knees so you dont hurt your back on this one! The second one is called Hlfsterkur (Half-Strength) and weighs 100 kg (220 lbs). The third one is called Hlfdrttingur (Weakling) and weighs 54 kg (119 lbs). You were the shame of your village if you could only lift the last stone, Amli ("Useless), at 23 kg (50 lbs). If a fisherman wanted to earn a spot on the fishing boat, he had to be able to lift the "Hlfdrttingur" stone anything less, and they were not acceptable. Try your strength! Are you ready to join the boats?

At your last stop, Kirkjufell mountain rises out of the green hills, surrounded by trickling rivers. This is one of the most popular photography spots in Iceland, so be sure to get a picture for your own collection.

Dont miss this opportunity to see the most stunning landscapes in western Iceland.

  • A must-do! It was a small group and we experienced so much of Iceland's different landscapes. Majestic views that were unlike anything I'd ever seen before black sand beach, walk along cliffs, seals!, and waterfalls. This was our favorite part of the trip. Great guide and wonderful experience.

  • Great trip - guide was so friendly and nice. Helped everyone up every steep slope!

  • What an incredible tour. If there is only one tour you should definitely book, this one. Between the amazing landscapes, the stunning views from the National parks, this tour is a condensed microcosm of Iceland and its a must ser.

  • A great tour! We liked the fact that we were part of a small group tour and had a couple of stops added on that we would not likely have had on the large bus tours. Our guide was great and provided us with both the history and the lore about the sites we visited.

  • our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and funny and sang us a few songs. I couldn't walk to see the seals so he got the minibus in so that I could see them from the bus. he took us to a few extra stops since we were making good time.. it was a long day but I would do it all over again. thank you Thor our great guide for taking so good care of me and us.

  • This tour was amazing!

  • This tour was very worthwhile. We could not have done it on our own. The guide was very good and took us to interesting places.
The other travelers were interesting to meet also. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel.

  • The sights were beautiful but we almost missed the entire day. You neglected to inform us that the pick up listed as our hotel changed.
Thanks to the concierge at our hotel we figured out we needed to be at a completely different place rather than the lobby of our hotel.

  • This was a great tour and the guides were wonderful. Even though the weather was bad, it was great. The views as you drive around make it worth the long drive.

  • This was billed as a small group tour with a max of 15 people. It was a really small bus, we were pretty cramped, and they exceeded the max number of people on the tour. Also, at some point in the morning, once we were already on the road, the tour guide announced we wouldn't be stopping for food until 3:30 - which is pretty late. Quite a few people were dismayed and wound up stocking up on snack food at the bathroom stop. The lunch was pizza, which we could have found sooner, we didn't have to wait that late for food. The guide was knowledgeable and the tour fun, but the bus was low down and didn't have the views you have from the larger busses.
