  • When they said small group they meant it. Ours was only six and we were in a small van but being small we got to know each other during the trip which was great. During the trip our guide Stewart entertained us with good stories and even a Downton Abbey trivia contest. He played the intro music to the show as we drove into the castle grounds which was cool. We were able to see the main rooms downstairs and upstairs that were used in the show. The main focus in the rooms was on the family that lives there full time. Pictures of their family everywhere as they should be. We had a nice lunch outside and had time to walk the grounds adjacent to the castle. The tour actually started in the town of Bampton which served as the village outside of the castle on the show. There we saw the buildings used as the Hospital, the church where Matthew and Lady Mary were married. This is an old town and it looks just like the show period setting. Overall a tour well worth the cost if you are a Downton Abbey fan.

  • I have taken a lot of tours over the years and this one was by far the best. Our tour guide and driver were the best! I loved that we got a lot of time to explore each area we stopped at without being rushed. Definitely recommend for any Downton fan!

  • Our tour started on time at the designated meeting place. Steven, our guide greeted us and showed us to the van, where our driver Jimmy was waiting. The drive is a bit long heading to the first stop however, Steven and Jimmy, along with the other guests made it an enjoyable experience. Steven is very knowledgeable about the tour, and was very friendly and helpful with trivia facts. We felt we had just enough time to leisurely see all that we wanted without feeling rushed. We have to give Jimmy the Outstanding Driver of the Year award for being so very kind in driving back to our hotel to return our wallet which we mistakenly left in the van. We thank you SO MUCH Jimmy, this could have been a really bad situation, we appreciate your kindness.

  • For the price of a private tour....I was disappointed....the van was uncomfortable...the tour guide was pleasant and informative but expected her to stay with us during the town visit and castle was kinda like we were driven there in a personal vehicle, not a comfortable tour van...and told a few interesting stories then set free to discover for ourselves....I loved what we toured....just disappointed in transportation and guide attentiveness. Not worth the extreme cost....

  • Chris was a fantastic guide! I would highly recommend this tour for any Downton fans.

  • Outstanding tour. Our guide, Ryan, was very knowledgeable and very interesting to hear his insights. One of our highlights of London trip. Would recommend to everyone!

  • Booking the tour was easy finding the meeting spot was easy. We were told to arrive 15 minutes early and most participants did but not so for the tour guide who just got there in time. And then we found out the tour had been overbooked by one person and some high level negotiations went on between the tour guide and the office. Finally he announced, there would be no tour guide so that everyone could fit into the van. We were introduced to Chris who was the driver and for our tour - our guide as well. Mind you, Chris was great and did wonderful as the fill-in - but he was charged with driving in heavy traffic and it would be unfair to expect him to do both roles. I'm just disappointed in the company for letting this happen. There was a lot of down time in the van which I would expect would have been filled in by a guide sitting telling us interesting things. The tour of Bampton was really good and we had enough time to look on our own too. The tour of the Castle did not involve guides for any group everyone walked through at their own pace and asked questions of the person assigned to that particular room. I loved seeing Highclere and really enjoyed the grounds I just would not have paid the extra for a personalized small group tour had I known there would be no guide.

  • Totally missed tour due to confusion in the way dates are written in England. Would suggest you send a reminder email or text the day before as is done for tours in New York City. Had that happened I could have rescheduled my other tour and not lost 400!

  • A small group tour is the only way to go. Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting, the whole day was very enjoyable.

  • This was a terrific tour. Our driver Tony was amazing at zipping us out of the city even in a crazy traffic day. Our guide Ray was excellent. He was funny and informative, and had lots of insights based on his own experience working as a small part of the cast of Downton Abbey. Visiting Highclere Castle was a major highlight of our trip - incredibly immersive and really exciting. We highly recommend this trip and this tour!
