Know More about this tour

One of the main appeals of Kusadasi is its proximity to the ancient city of Ephesus, the best preserved classical city in the Eastern Mediterranean. Cleopatra, Mark Antony, the Virgin Mary and John the Apostle once walked its streets. This half-day guided tour from Kusadasi takes you to explore what is unquestionably one of the greatest sites of antiquity.

The largest open-air museum in Turkey, Ephesus contains more than 30 buildings and structures linked together by streets that still bear the mark of ancient chariot wheels. Your guide will show you the awe inspiring Great Theater, where St. Paul preached against the pagans and gladiators once engaged in battle. Walk along Marble Street to the Library of Celsus - the facade of which has been remarkably restored. You will also visit the Temple of Hadrian, Roman baths, and many other remarkable ruins.

End your day at the site of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Today there are only a series of columns and scattered ruins of this marvellous Hellenistic construction, though the grandeur of this colossal structure once exceeded that of the Parthenon.

At the end of the tour, you can choose to see a rug art demonstration, to watch a leather fashion show or a pottery shop visit. Shopping facilities are always optional and all should be requested by some part of group.

  • Learned a lot about Turkey history AND culture. We were an hour late and our tour guide waited for us! Besides Ephesis we were taken to the usual tourist stops carpet shop, pottery factory, leather coat showroom but we received warm hospitality and no strong pressure to buy. Our guide and driver took care to watch out for us. The tour guide was super knowledgeable.

  • We enjoyed this tour more than any others. Our guide was so professional and was very informative. He was very considerate of our well-being as well. It was brutally hot, but he did his best to keep us comfortable. The rug tour was great as well in fact we did purchase one. However, the ensuing stops at the ceramic shop and the jewelry shops were a bit too much oversell for us.

  • Avoid!! The destination are amazing - worth a proper tour. This tour was not what viator shows. It was less than 2 hours including drive to the ruins. Guidr rushed us complained about weather then took us to a private and cultural experience which was a HARD SALES rug maker! Never saw temple! BAD!

  • Our guide Ali was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the booked tour
I had booked the 2nd bus option at 10am but our guide had not been given this information from Viator so he thought we were late. This was not a problem with the tour company and they went over and beyond to accommodate us and made us feel very welcome.
very enjoyable. had it not been the mis--communication I would have awarded 5 stars for sure

  • The small group tour was excellent. Our guide Senem was great as our driver as well. This tour was a must do!

  • Our guide picked us up at the Cruise Port and the transportation from Kusadasi to Ephesus was very comfortable especially since it was a hot day. There were six in our group and another couple from New Zealand.

Our guide was Adam and he was extremely knowledgeable of the area and the ruins in Ephesus. You could tell he has a strong passion for the history of this area and that he studies it constantly. He warned us to bring plenty of water, use sun screen and wear hats and we were grateful that we heeded his advice. Adam looked for shade to stop and tell us about the importance of the various ruins we saw.

The ancient library, amphitheater, markets, and homes were all very facinating. We made one more stop at an ancient temple but there was not much left to see and then he took us to a leather factory where we were treated to a fashion show. After the runway show, we entered the factory showroom where they tried to sell us leather jackets, but hey, when it is 87F out you're not interested. I think it was a cultural thing where the tour guides need to take you to a leather factory, rug factory or ceramic factory. Interesting experience but we could have skipped it.

As I said, Adam was a great tour guide and very personable. I would definitely ask for him.

  • Great Tour and Great tour guide. Best tour of Ruins EphasusI have experienced. Guide also accommodated group desires for side trip to Virgin Mary's House shrine, at small cost. Only disappointment was Temple of Artemis.- the Temple itself was actually removed to a London Museum. The site has a few stones left behind, with many souvenir vendors trying hard to make a living.

  • Very good. the guide was very informative. The olny issue was that we were on disembarking we were met by a guide who asked if we were with Viator and prompltly took us the the mini van. After 15 minutes of our journey, she then realised that we should be with another company and took us back to port where we eventually met the right guide. This should not have happened! Our rating based upon the initial mix up and not the qaulity of our eventual guide

  • Great tour the guide was excellent and the tour company that was used were very professional would recommend this tour

  • Really smooth process and a good quality tour
