Know More about this tour

Start your day with a pickup from your centrally located Rome hotel. Then, sitting comfortably in a luxury minivan, make your way out of the city to Tuscanys UNESCO-listed Val d'Orcia region. As you travel, gaze out at the idyllic countryside and listen to your driver-guide share details of the days itinerary.

Make your first stop in the hilltop town of Montepulciano, known for its Vino di Nobile and Rosso di Montepulciano wines. With your driver-guide and small group, traverse the cobbled streets and have your camera ready as you pass buildings that date back to the Renaissance and Middle Ages. Then, visit an atmospheric wine cellar located in subterranean tunnels once used as tombs by the Etruscan people. Here youll also enjoy free time to explore this picturesque town on your own.

Next head to the charming medieval village of Bagno Vignoni, located on a hill surrounded by the Valley Orcia river and famous also for its thermal waters used since Roman times - the village is built around its central 'piazza of water', a huge pool of thermal water. Spend some time walking around this beautiful and unique village and capture the vibrant atmosphere of the place.

Continue on to Montalcino wine area, famous for its rich Brunello di Montepulciano wine. Enjoy a tour of a prestigious winery to learn about its winemaking methods. After exploring the vineyards and cellars, treat your taste buds to another tasting session while you savor a light lunch of cured meat, cheese, bruschetta and extra virgin olive oil.

Your final stop of the day is the UNESCO World Heritagelisted town of Pienza, whose layout was designed by Pope Pius II in the 14th century. With time here to spend at your leisure, revel in the relaxed atmosphere and marvel at the towns stunning ancient architecture. You might also wish to purchase some Pecorino cheese, Pienzas most famous export.

When the time comes, meet back up with your driver-guide and relax on the journey back to your hotel in Rome.

One of our favourite tours in Italy. While not being a huge wine drinker, just the opportunity to head out into the Tuscany countryside was fantastic. The scenery was beautiful, the towns we visited were extremely picturesque and, most importantly, there were no huge numbers of tourists jostling you at every moment. It was just a lovely, quiet way of getting a great view of the real Italian countryside. I loved everything about this tour!

Max and Giancarlo took us through Tuscany in a comfortable Mercedes van. We toured 3 villages and 2 fabulous wineries with several photo op stops along the way. It was more than we expected. Our hearts remain in Tuscany.

Our tour guide was great. He knew a lot about the region and did not rush us on to the next place. Excellent

Convenient hotel pickup in Rome and 2 hour drive to Tuscany in small van with just one other couple. Several wine tastings and lovely pasta lunch at a winery with some fine Brunello. Stop at Pienza, a nice town with great views of Tuscany and wonderful shops

Total highlight of our Italy Trip. Khan was a skilled, knowledgeable passionate escort. By selecting a small tour, we were in a Mercedes Van, able to go to areas that bus tours did not go. The wineries and lunch were fabulous. When an unexpected storm blocked us in at a winery, Khan worked his magic to make sure we still got to see everything that was promised, even though our tour ran late. Total Professional. Just a remainder - if you are Canadian, know your limits of wine purchase. Even though the wineries offer free shipping, you are responsible for duties, customs and clearance. In Ontario we had to pay 102 of bottle purchase to LCBO to clear customs taxes brokerage. It was a very expensive case!

A good tour, but a lot of driving in the shuttle van. Total elapsed tour time around 12-13 hours. Stopped at two wineries for tastings and lunch. Also, stopped at two of the UNESCO towns. Beautiful scenery and quaint small towns. On reflection would have likely opted for a tour with fast train to Florence combined with a tour of the wine country. This is not an inexpensive tour by any means so more time touring and less time on the road would have been better.
