Meet your tour guide in central Vienna, near Michaelerplatz, and start your Underground Vienna tour at St Michael’s Church, one of Vienna’s oldest churches, consecrated in 1217.
With your guide, head underground to explore the crypt below the church. Created in the 16th and 17th centuries for the burials of nobleman and wealthy Viennese, the crypt held more than 4,000 bodies, and due to the crypt’s ideal constant temperature, these corpses have been well preserved.
Next, follow your guide back above ground to visit the Michaelerplatz archaeological site, an excavation that uncovered a Roman settlement of soldiers’ homes from the Vindobona military camp. Your tour ends here, on the Michaelerplatz, so you’ll be perfectly placed to continue exploring Vienna on your own.

I took this tour over a year ago but it was one of my best memories. The guide was excellent and very informative. I love underground tours and this did not disappoint.

This was a really interesting tour. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly. It was a fairly large group. Some of the smaller spaces were a bit cramped. Overall, this was well worth the money.

AWFUL!!!!! The guide kept switching back and forth from English to German....really took away from the experience.

This was a very interesting tour and we were glad we did it. The guide was very knowledgable and passionate about the subject matter. Only down side was it was in both German and English so it was sometimes hard to follow but she was fluent in both languages for sure!

Exceptionally stellar tour, and most knowledgeable tour guide. If anyone wants to know the underground yes, literally underground history of Vienna, this tour is a must. They say that the tour's duration is about one and a half hours. However, it is in reality a little more than 90 minutes, and our tour guide acknowledged this from the onset. But that little more time, nonetheless, is truly worth it. We did the tour in the afternoon of Wednesday, 13 July 2016. Our tour guide, Barbara, was simply amazing. Not only did she keep us engaged throughout the archaeological undergrounds of the city, all the way back to the Roman and Medieval periods, but she was also fully attentive to our queries, well-organized, very friendly and, at times, quite humorous. We highly recommend this tour and this tour guide.

Tour guide was excellent . Totally different and exciting tour.

Most enjoyable two hours. The guide was excellent with a great knowledge and sense of humour. The best bit was the Crypt where there was a lot to learn. The other two vaulted cellars were interesting in their own way but apart from the spaces there wasn't a lot to see in them. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Very nice tour, was a little difficult finding the start since the church is under renovation. A true underground: crypt, wine cellar, restaurant, and store each with their own story.
-
Interesting tour with various locations to satisfy different interests. Nice and pleasant two hour experience

This was a very interesting and unique tour. The guide spoke English and German and was very thorough in her explanation of the Church Crypt and the history of the tunnels that were built over the years throughout Vienna. Our 14 year old daughter thought it was intriguing as did we.
