Overview

Jules Verne made the peninsula of Snfellsnes a legend when he wrote his novel, Journey to the center of the earth in 1864. He was inspired by the Icelandic Saga's and Snorri Sturluson, one of our greatest authors from the 12.th century. Now you have the opportunity to travel on a days journey with us to the center of the earth, or at least around it. On our tour we will drive around the Snfellsnes Glacier and through the national park of Snfellsnes. We will stop at so many gorgeous places that will take your breath away. And the best of all, you will get to taste the amazing delicacy, the fermented shark on our visit to the shark museum. How about that? Join us on this packed tour and enjoy Icelandic nature at its best.

Know More about this tour

We leave the city, bright and early at 8:00 am, pickup starts 30 minutes before.
We drive out of the city towards north and go through the tunnel under Hvalfjrur(Whale fjord) on our way to the peninsula.
Our first stop is Geruberg, beautiful basalt columns. If you have seen the church of Hallgrimur Petursson in Reykjavik, you can see where the designer, Gujn Samelsson, got his inspiration from when designing the church.
If you are thirsty I do not recommend drinking from the mineral spring at lkelda, but we will stop there and taste the mineral water coming straight from the ground. The church at Bir is beautiful and the beach there is phenomenal. Sometimes we can spot seals on the beach.
Next stop is the Raufelds ravine, if you can hike it, it's extremely beautiful. Arnarstapi fishing village is the next stop, perhaps we can see some beautiful birds there and try the fish and chips. A lava cave, Vatnshellir, is our next stop. Do not get lost in that cave. We will check it out and then we stop at Lndrangar, beautiful rock formations and beach line. Then it's Djpalnssandur, black sand beach. The highlight of the tour is the mountain Kirkjufell and the waterfall. Beautiful pictures and scenery. From there, we go to the shark museum where the fermented shark is supposed to be tasted. The last stop is at Stykkishlmur, a small but beautiful town that was used as a location in the film of the secret life of Walter Mitty. Perhaps we will find Mr. Mitty there? We head back to the city and estimate our arrival there at 9:00 pm in the evening.
