Know More about this tour

It’s time to wave farewell to Panama City and get out into nature! Breathe in the fresh air of parks, islands, rainforests, and rural villages. This Panama City jungle tour will turn its back on bustling city life and welcome the rainforest in with open arms – come along for the ride!

You’ll be picked up from the American Trade Hotel in the historic district, and the first part of this Panama City wildlife tour will take you past Panama Canal’s famous Culebra Cut and towards Soberania National Park, Lake Gatun, and the Chagres River.

Known for its huge variety of birds (the Audubon Society's annual bird count once spotted over 500 species in 24 hours!), Soberania National Park is full of wildlife and is a wonderful place to watch for monkeys, sloths, eagles, and plenty more. There’s no denying that this spot in the Panama jungle really is the jackpot for animal lovers. You’ll also catch a boat out to Monkey Island – doesn’t take a genius to guess what you’ll find here! Keep your eyes peeled to spot a number of different species of monkey.

Next, you will continue your tour up the Chagres River to an authentic Indian village. This will be an opportunity for you to get in touch with the local community, and learn all about their culture, customs, history, and more. As part of the visit, you’ll take a short hike along the trails through the rainforest to learn about how the local plants are used for medicinal purposes. With your local guide by your side through this adventure, you’ll learn plenty about the culture around you.

After your Panama jungle experience of a life time, you’ll head back into the city (perhaps a little begrudgingly…) where your local guide will drop you back off at the American Trade Hotel.

  • Great way to spend a day and see the Canal. The tour combines several things, so it is likely to be interesting for the whole family. Monkeys were cute. The Village was very interesting and a walking tour in the jungle with a discussion of plants and trees significant to the natives lifestyles was included. All in all a satisfying experience.

  • Excellent day with Ross - great tour and boat ride to see monkeys at Soberania National Park and to visit an indigenous village. The tour was excellently coordinated and planned - so easy for us and such a pleasure to spend the day with Ross. Highly Recommend.

  • Great Tour with nice tour guides, got some cool pictures.
    Thank you guys

  • Excellent tour with very knowledgeable guide.

  • We recommend this tour to everyone visiting Panama. Our guide was Ross, the very best guide we have ever had We saw the canal, the rain forest, crocodiles, monkeys and natives of the area. Ross gave us a wealth of information covering the history of the canal, how it works, and the history of Panama from gold and pirates and how the natives helped the US military. It was a fascinating tour and everything we expected and more. If you are going to take one tour, this is the one.

  • This is a fun boat ride to Monkey Islands and a short visit to an Indian Village. Rain or shine, Urban adventures provides quality tours. Our lunch stop at the end of the days was wonderful too!

  • Very interesting and entertaining.

  • I enjoyed myself on this tour. Our guide Al was very knowledgeable and friendly. We saw monkeys, birds, and even a sloth. The visit to the Indian village was really good as well. We learned a about their culture, daily life, and how they use the rainforest to live. A great way to spend the day outside of the city.

  • Overall, tour was enjoyable, but the description is a misleading. The good news: our guide, was highly knowledgeable and very engaging. He spoke both English and Spanish very well and was very informative. We had a chance to ride on Gatun Lake and pass some of the large vessels that had transited the Miraflores Locks. It was nice to see the size of the vessels up close. Next, the stops and interactions with the monkies were very enjoyable... the guides know which small islands the monkies frequent and they were able to entice several of them to come from the trees near or into our boat. Everyone onboard had a chance to feed the monkies from their own hand monkies were very gentle!. Keep in mind that these monkies come from the trees or not, depending on mood, hunger, etc., so this is in no way a visit to a zoo! This part was highly enjoyable and a lifetime experience. Next, we visited the Indian village, which was interesting, although a bit contrived, or so it seemed. We had the chance to buy some locally, hand-made good and also walk in the jungle and see some of the plants and techniques the indians use for medicinal and survival purposes which was interesting. Now the Bad news: The description leads you to believe you will be doing a third segment: a trek in Soberania. This never happened both we and another couple were under the impression this would occur. Technically, the Indian village is in Soberania, but that's not really what the description suggests! Also, the description says 7.5 hours, but it's more like 6 hours. Also, our guide took us to a local Panamanian restaurant for lunch which was excellent. So, overall, we enjoyed it, but the description did not match the actual event.

  • Mario was incredible! One of the best tour guides I've ever met.

Came face to face with several monkeys and saw sloths and toucans...
