Know More about this tour

Your luxurious railcar features a service bar, restroom and colorful artwork on the walls. The upper level has an open-air observation deck with breathtaking views of the majestic mountain ranges and lush sugar cane fields, and the lower level offers air-conditioned comfort and expansive vaulted windows. Take advantage of the complimentary specialty drinks served throughout the trip.

See fields of sugar canes surrounding the railcar as the railway winds around the slopes of the remnant volcano Mt. Liamuiga. Discover the hidden black sand beach and overgrown plantation estates, and cross steel bridges, including one stretching 300 feet (90 meters) across a deep ravine. You will also pass many villages including the Mansion Village and Saddlers Village, surrounded by fields producing a range of fruit.

The colorful narration of the history of Caribbean and St. Kitts includes tales of the Last Railway in the West Indies, which was used to transport sugar cane from the islands sugar plantations to the sugar factory in Basseterre, St. Kitts capital city. You will also be entertained with folk songs and hymns by the St. Kitts Railway Choir.

At the end of your train ride, transfer to a sightseeing bus to continue your 12-mile (19 km) journey along Island Main Road. The route passes under Brimstone Hill Fortress and through small villages and towns before returning to Basseterre.

5 stars! We had an amazing time on our Scenic Train tour. The guide was very knowledgeable, personable and humorous. The hostesses made amazing piña coladas (I had 2) and the rum punch was delightful as well. Overall the train ride was an hour and 45 minutes long and the drive back to hotel/cruise port was 45 minutes where they provide additional history as you are going through the towns. It was an amazing experience and a must do while on the beautiful island of St. Kitts. P.S. be BOLD and dance with the masqueraders, you will have much more fun.

There were some interesting pics of things we wouldn't have seen any other way. So for that it was "ok" so I gave it 2 stars instead of zero. But it is advertised as something it's NOT - at all. It is said to be 3 hour train tour of the island. It was 2 hours from the time we left the meeting point until we returned. Of that, 1/2 hour was driving in a van to get to the train. Granted if this was the only tour of St Kitts one sees it would be worth more to them. But we saw and heard the "tour" info from a better guide on a land tour a few days earlier. I was expecting a THREE HOUR "train" ride. That is what the ad suggests. But it is not. And other than a few odd trees (one 100 yr old Caribbean Cedar trees) and wild almond trees, what we saw was a few good shots at the beaches below; 3 train tracks trestles; and a LOT of back yards of local islanders- not exactly "touristy" - but seeing the kids run and wave at the train was cute. Just NOT worth $125 per person. Maybe worth $50. Btw- free drinks "with rum" tasted like without rums but that's ok by me too. I am not a fan of rum. The mango daiquiri was tasty. That's about all I can say about it. It's a "train" but a little larger than HO Scale. LOL The announcer on the train tried to be funny- I will give her credit for that; and the dancers were entertaining. I would not take it again, and certainly wouldn't recommend this one. For half the cost you can get a pretty amazing, informational, educational, AND interesting Full Island Land tour with Mr Gray. Just saying!

The history of St.Kitts that was relayed to us. That even though we had periods of rain (liquid sunshine), the tour guide made the ride fun. The rum punch was great.

you get to see the whole island and it's learn it's history and culture. the trains are old and can wobble back and forth ( We were on top which has best views) in case you have motion sickness

The most memorable part was the unpleasant wait staff. Information was good from the guide, views were nice, but experience was spoiled by the nasty waitress in the front car. Wish me and my family would have chosen a different way to spend this day.

The people were wonderful. The train is in dire need of replacement! I literally felt unsafe almost the entire time. My niece and I were left with bruises from the branches hitting us and the being tossed around the train car. Everyone else was nauseous by the end. The employees did their best to make it enjoyable and I give them a 10+ for their effort.

Great trip, very informative, comfy cushions to sit on , plenty of drinks offered. Commentary was clear and constant , plenty of history and insights into life on St Kitts

  • 04-May-2022

Trip booked 48hrs in advance, cancelled by operator then offered for following day. We rearranged another tour to accommodate this change and then it was cancelled again. Not impressed.

Great vistas, wonderful service and an outstanding tour guide! Even the bus ride back was fun and informative! Loved the trip!

  • 14-Apr-2022

Staff was knowledgeable, drinks were great, but the seats on the train were very uncomfortable. Bus ride back to station was okay.
