Know More about this tour

Get a lifetime travel experience! This tour is absolutely unique in every possible way. Russian ECO Backpacking is just at the beginning of its popularity so there are now "ready to walk routes" and standard nature sights, you are actually going to be the descoverers!
St Petersburg is famous not only for palaces and beautiful fountains. It is also known for authentic nature and beautiful camping places. This tour is all about trekking the "untouristy" sights of Leningrad Region, taking pictures of nature and old architecture, shopping in local markets and talk to people who love simple lives in small towns.
The main destination on tour is Oranienbaum - a small town in St Petersburg suburbs where you have a walking distance access to the gulf, pine forests and old palace ruins. Oranienbaum Palace used to be a royal residence but due to its distant location it lost cultural significance and became a mysterious residence of wild nature and occasional photographers.
Right across the road, you will see the Finland Gulf - a spectacular shallow bay. There you will have some time for taking pictures and have a small fire from the bough and even fry bread with cheese on it.
Going back to Oranienbaum train station you will visit a local church and market to see how ordinary people live there. It is a good place to buy honey and wool socks.
Another destination (optional due to the distance) is Kronshtadt. Once you get there you need to see the Kronstadt Naval Cathedral. It is an enormous cathedral right in the center of the island and it was planned as a sign for ships going back from the sea. You can see the cathedrals dome from the mainland! Its not just big, its huge! And the cross on top is breathtaking.
The trip includes local train travel so for a day you will practically live like a local. This tour is absolutely unforgettable and if you like backpacking - this is a right choice.
