Fantastic experience hiring 2 boards for 4 hours. Customer service was outstanding and went over and above when is normal or necessary. Great tips on where to go due to current weather conditions. Would totally recommend this company.

I gifted this experience to my daughter and son-in-law for Christmas for while they were in Taupo on holiday with their children. They were looking forward to spending 4 hours on their own and were also looking forward to seeing the Maori carvings. But they were told by staff that this would take too long to do, 7-8 hours. I was disappointed for them as that was a highlight for them and the advertising led me to believe that they could achieve this. Perhaps you need to adjust your advertising to reflect the real outcomes. Thank you.

I will start by saying that apparently there is some sort of shortage of boats (kayaks) in Taupo, as we called to reserve kayaks for 4 ppl (so either 2 for 2ppl or 4 for 1) and they said they were all booked out (all meaning about 10) and they only had paddle boards left. Now we had never done paddle boards, but on the phone we were told it is easy and we ended up booking them. First thing: they are located in the city centre, not on the water front!! A place hiring boats is located in the city centre...wtf!!! ... Luckily, we had a car, so we went there. Fist, we were surprised to see we had to carry this HUGE packs with the paddle boards ourselves, to the car, then following their map and instructions parking on the side of the road in, then hiking with this hugely heavy thing until we reached a place where we could go in the water. Then you have to inflate them yourself (the instructions are to be checked in a vimeo video for which they give you the link...so you need time and internet access). And then...you go... You do not receive a dry bag for your valuables. They tried to make us buy one from their shop for about 50NZ$...luckily we did not buy it, as we found it later in another shop for like 8NZ$. Also their instructions were rather limited and they did not seem to care much, they are rather a shop with concern of selling you stuff then a rental company that would care to offer you a nice experience. You will fall in the water, because turns out paddle boarding is not that easy and lake Taupo is quite big and windy..and mind you, you are alone, no instructor, no safety whatsoever, apart from a life vest! You have a very limited and rather short time. They give you a time when you must be back , or they will call the coastguard and you will have to pay (apparently a lot) for them to save you if you are in difficulty. We managed, with the minimum accidents, but it is sad to pay so much money and get nothing in return. The lack of care for their customers is scary.. Apparently there are other better companies for kayak rentals in Taupo, which we did not know about at the time. Our impression was that they just literally wanted to take make quick easy money without any concern for the client's happiness or well being.
