Overview

Discover the beaches and wildlife of Queensland on a guided day trip to North Stradbroke Island, just a short hop from Brisbane. Famous for its natural attractions, including a resident population of kangaroos and koalas, the island also offers walking tracks, marine wildlife viewing, and a relaxed atmosphere in small townships. Swim in the surf or freshwater lakes, take a short guided hike, and have free time to explore. This tour operates with a maximum of 21 people, ensuring youll enjoy a small-group experience with your expert guide. Lunch is included.

Know More about this tour

After pickup in central Brisbane, travel by coach with your guide about 40 minutes to reach the ferry to North Stradbroke Island. Keep an eye out for dolphins on the 45-minute cruise across Moreton bay to the island.

When you arrive at the island, your friendly and experienced guide will show you the highlights. Youll visit Brown Lake, named for the clear tea-colored water tinted by leaves from the surrounding forest. Relax on the lakes white-sand beach or take a refreshing swim!

Then head to the North Gorge Walk to Point Lookout, following your guide along a well-marked trail and boardwalk. Look for turtles, dolphins or manta rays swimming in the waters below you. At the Point, marvel at Whale Rock, where water sprays from the rock like a whales spout. You may even see the real thing when humpback whales migrate through these waters from May to October.

The interior of the island is also home to native wildlife. Your guide will take you to spots where you can hope to see kangaroos lazing in the sun or koalas chomping on eucalyptus leaves. Next, visit Myora Springs, a picturesque fresh water spring surrounded by tropical forest. Myora Springs made history as the site of a significant colonial-era battle between the military and local Aborigines.

Throughout the day, youll make stops in several small developed areas, including Cylinder Beach, the historic town of Dunwich, and the fishing village of Amity. Enjoy an included lunch, plus breaks for morning and afternoon tea (own expense).

After a thorough introduction to the highlights of the island, enjoy free time (about 1 hour) at Cylinder Beach to explore at your leisure. At the designated time, rejoin your group for the return trip to Brisbane.

James the driver was just amazing. Very informative and entertaining. Worked very hard to find us a 🐨 in the wild which he did (eventually lol). The 'straddie' experience was sensational. A definite must do in my books. Such a beautiful place. We saw Sea turtles, Dolphins, Manta rays, kangaroos and a koala. Loved the small group we were with which had a great mix of people.

We had a fabulous day spotting turtles, dolphins and a manta ray. The water was turquoise crystal clear - absolutely beautiful! our guide was so knowledgeable and pointed out flora and fauna - we visited Amity first and took photos of the shark warnings!

Our driver was very friendly. Talked about Brisbane on way to ferry. Took fun ferry ride over to Stadbroke Island. Guide tried his best to find a koala, kangaroo and sea turtles in the wild, and we did see them! The stop at the lake, the lunch and the hike around the cliff area were all nice. The walking might be a little strenuous for someone with difficulty walking, but we all enjoyed it and had lovely views. Great day in all!

Perfectly organized, nice driver and guide, good tips. We saw a couple of animals such as Koala, Kangoroos, giant Manta Rays- wow - and Dolphins from the lookout. Lunch was also good taste.

Best was the enthusiasm of the Guide, who kept searching for Kualas and Kangaroos in wild and succeeded in showing them to us!

Well planned and conducted trip and we enjoyed every bit of it. Thank You Viator!

The driver/guide Brian was very friendly and helpful. The trip was well planned. Lunch food and venue were excellent. Given an opportunity to swim in the ocean, a great experience. Overall highly recommended to see australia outside of the city.

Perfect. Guide cheerful and knowledgeable. Needs to show respect for Christians and refrain from his careless use of Jesus name. He showed respect for aborigine myth, but none for the true Creator. Lovely man otherwise.
