  • This trip with skipper Tony was the highlight of our 3 1/2 weeks holiday in Australia. However we were unsure to start with. We arrived at the quay indicated on our paperwork and found loads of people waiting to board a large boat. After some discussion our boat was to be found at the quay next to the one on our paperwork. The boat is small compared to the other whale watching boats in the area but I very quickly became very comfortable as Tony was very professional and knowledgeable about the area and sea conditions. On board there was the 2 of us and 2 other passengers, there was also a couple who were locals and very knowledgeable about whales, I am sorry but their names escape me. As Tony navigated our way out of the harbour the gentlemen whale watcher told us lots of information of what we were seeing in the harbour and was very knowledgeable and interesting, his wife surprised us on the way back to the harbour with a delicious muffin too. On reaching the sea we came across a mother and calf humpback. Other boats were in view and we were joined by 2 other boats, the whales seemed to pop up near those boats more than ours. The captains of these boats do share information regarding where the whales are showing themselves which is good. After a while we were left by the other boats and I think because we were a small craft the whales seemed to take no notice of us. The mother and calf surfaced near our boat, it was at this time when the size of these fantastic creatures dawned on me. Exhilaration, awe, happiness and feeling slightly frightened all came over us at once. The mother then started flapping her tail powerfully in the water and the calf breached a few times. It may be that a male humpback which suddenly appeared caused this display. All through the trip Tony and 'the couple' only showed complete professionalism and regard for us and particularly for the whales. Take my advice, if you take one whale watching trip in Sydney, take it with Tony. If I am ever back in Sydney again I would book this trip as many times as I could. Thanks Tony for a great time.

  • No words to describe how exciting it was. Took for us 2 and a half hours to see the first glance of the whales mother and calf, but it was worth it then we have a 45 minutes outstanding performance, the personal explanation and care for us by the Capitan Tonny, and the extraordinary comments by the expert, made our visit to Sydney unforgettable...

  • This boat is very small, and if you get sea sick like I do, you should probably skip this. I am giving this a good review because I got very sick and the operator was kind enough to turn the boat around and take us back to shore.

  • The captain was really good however we experienced freak weather which made the boat really sea sickening and rather scary. Didn and #39;t see any whales but was the end of the season. However the captain was good and knowledgable and talking through species

  • the boat is small and not able to view the whale as we turned back half way due to seasick. 2 out of 4 members vomited.

  • Very enjoyable, lived up to all my expectations. Saw several whales

  • Really fun, definitely worth it, so exciting to see the whales. Very relaxing.

  • Superb. Chased after 2 humpback for 45 minutes or so. Don't expect whales to jump and perform right in front of the boat. But you get to see them for a while.

  • Captain Tony was great, we saw whales and got pictures, although he did bring us back to port an hour early, not sure why.

  • We had a great afternoon on the Katrina. Tony is a great guy, knowledgeable, relaxed and a good host. We saw one whale and would have liked to see more but on the way back we saw a big pod of dolphins many of which came up to, and beside, the boat. There was no strict time or hurry to get back and we had the boat to ourselves, which was a bonus. It is such a better way to go out to sea than on those large crowded boats. We will go out again with Tony in the Spring.
