Know More about this tour

Travel along the beautiful, scenic backroads of the Texas Hill Country, with a brief stop at the Johnson City Visitor Center and boyhood home of LBJ. Only a short distance away is the town of Stonewall, the peach capital of Texas and home to the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site. Enjoy a tour of the LBJ Ranch, located along the picturesque Pedernales River.
During your tour, you will discover how the German migration of the 1840s and 1850s influenced the development of this picturesque area. You will hear about the role of the Texas cowboy and the great cattle drives from South Texas to mid-western markets, and you'll learn about the legacies of both LBJ Americas 36th President and Lady Bird, his beloved wife.
We will stop for a break in Johnson City at the National Park Services Visitor Center and Boyhood Home of President LBJ.
After our brief stop in Johnson City, we will head west to tour the beautiful LBJ Ranch and Texas White House on the Pedernales River.
After the LBJ Ranch, we will head further west and discuss the development of the Texas wine industry as we drive through Texas vineyards on our way to the old German town of Fredericksburg, where you will have 1 to 2 hours of time on your own. If you prefer, you can shop and eat lunch at an authentic German Biergarten or visit one of the many wine tasting rooms. You can visit the Nimitz Museum & National Museum of the Pacific War. This Fredericksburg part of the tour is flexible, so you can do whatever pleases you!
From Fredericksburg, we will drive past more vineyards on our way to legendary Luckenbach, Texas, where "everybody is somebody." We will stop and take in the storied musical history of the colorful town of Luckenbach, made world-famous by Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Jeff Walker, Gary P Nunn, Hondo Crouch, and many more artists and colorful characters.
After Luckenbach, we will take a scenic route through the Texas Hill Country, through Sisterdale and its Sister Creek Winery, through another quaint German town of Boerne, and then head back to San Antonio.
**Important Note: Starting August 3, 2018, and until further notice, guided tours of the interior of the Texas Whitehouse are canceled per the National Park Service due to needed repairs. However, guests can still explore the LBJ Ranch grounds, view exhibition pieces and artifacts in the JetStar Hangar, watch an award-winning 14-minute film, and get a picture with LBJ's infamous JetStar aka Air Force One-Half.

This was an excellent experience for my disabled brother. Loretta made the trip enjoyable every step of the way.

Nice to escape the city Enjoyed our stop at LBJ ranch There was only 2 of us on the bus, the driver said we could tailor We said we wanted to spend most of our time in Fredericksburg We still only had 2 hours, Luckenbach is a waste of time and you should drop it from your tours We skipped the winery If the tour had allowed 3 hrs in Fredericksburg there would have been ample time to explore or possibly visit Pacific War Museum

We loved that in addition to the Historic town of Fredericksburg & LBJ's ranch, Perry took us to incredible place we wouldn't have seen otherwise! We stopped at Fischer & Wieser to taste delicious salsas & jellies and tour the amazing grounds. We visited a French Antique store and enjoyed shopping in Fredericksburg. The highlight of the tour was a stop at the iconic Luckenbach, Texas - not to be missed! Perry was very accommodating, knowledgeable, and fun!

We liked the stops for the tour. The audio recording introduction that was played during our van trip out of San Antonio gave us an overview of the stops we would be making. Our driver was polite and efficient and was an excellent driver but did not add much information during the drive to the sites. I am use to guides telling stories and adding insight to the places we visit. Maybe other customers appreciate not having a quiet ride interrupted with stories and information. Our questions were answered, but I would have liked to hear more. When we got to Luckenbach our driver said it was interesting. Someone asked “What makes it interesting?”, and the answer was “You’ll find out.” Well, we discovered that there was some nice music on the stage so we sat down and listened. We peeked in the dance hall, but we didn’t have the background and stories to make it important. So, we enjoyed the itinerary but just expected more background information and stories when we got to the tour stops

Perry, our Grayline Vans Tour Guide, was excellent! He was knowledgeable of the area and made sure we were comfortable. Specifically, LBJ Ranch was educational for my family. Our visit to Fredicksburg, TX was a great experience. The Auslander restaurant had delicious German food and the wine tasting and shops were a hit. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend this trip to others.

Getting to see the hill country of Texas with it’s beautiful flowers. Our first time to be on an actual ranch! Fredericksburg was a fun town

LBJ ranch tour was very interesting. Fredericksburg time was to short to see everything. Overall it was a great day.

Lovely mix of history and winery. Learned a lot about LBJ and loved the Texas White House. Enjoyed Fredericksburg boutiques and wineries and learned a lot about Admiral Chester Nimitz. Enjoyed the Japanese Peace Garden at the museum of the Pacific War. Had great fun hanging out at Luchenbach. A most enjoyable day

Great tour, very informative. LBJ Ranch and childhood home were interesting and the displays were well done. Juan (guide) and Robert (bus driver) were friendly and took good care of us. Only drawback was that we only had 1.5 hours in Fredericksburg. Not enough time to do lunch and check out the town so we’re going to try to go back there.
