Overview

Skip the lines to enter Pompeii on an in-depth three-hour tour. Covering more ground than on other guided tours, your archaeologist guide will take you through the ancient city that was decimated by the explosion of Mount Vesuvius nearly 2,000 years ago. Follow them through the UNESCO World Heritage site to see the amazing ruins of ancient shops, temples, homes (including the incredible House of the Vettii) and more. Wrap up with a walk along the city walls for sweeping views of Naples and Capri. Your small-group tour is limited to 15 people in order to ensure a more personal experience.

Know More about this tour

Explore more of Pompeii than you would on any other guided tour, with a trained archaeologist to provide stories and context that will help you make the most of your visit. Upon meeting up with your guide and small group, youll skip the long lines to enter the ruins. Hear fascinating stories about life in the Roman Republic and see how ordinary people lived nearly 2,000 years ago. See the remains of a bakery where the food is still almost intact, the Temple of Apollo and the Roman Forum, an ancient supermarket, a cemetery, and even a brothel (if age appropriate). Marvel at the heart-wrenching plaster casts of those caught in the eruption at the exact moment of their death. Youll also explore the House of the Vettii, a fascinating private home that recently reopened to the public following restoration. End with a stroll along the old city walls for panoramic views.

We had a wonderful visit to Pompeii with Nicholas. He was a fountain of knowledge and made the visit oh so interesting. The weather was very hot but he kept us in the shade as much as possible and took great care of us all

This was a magnificent site to explore. Our guide was absolutely essential for this experience and she did a wonderful job providing context and information for this breathtaking experience. Note: it requires some tough walking. Wear comfortable shoes, don’t bring little children…it is simply too much to put them through. Bring water and dress for sun and heat if it is in the warmer months.

Our Guide (I think her name was Anna?) was excellent. We got a lot of information and saw many interesting things that we likely wouldn’t have known about without a guide. Yes, you can get an audio guide, but a living person is so much better! I recommend Walks of Italy without hesitation. It was easy to find at the gate and very educational.

Francesca was our guide. Very knowledgeable and understandable. Pompeii ruins are unbelievable. You are walking through history. The three hour tour was plenty, you can’t possibly see everything, but you experience enough.

Sonia was great! A very lively, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. She was very good at manoeuvring around other tour groups so that we got the most out of the time available. We felt that it was well worth selecting this tour over the others due to the small group size, which allowed for better interaction with her. The 3 hours flew by; 2 would have felt rushed to us, as there is so much to explore! We don't usually do guided tours, but just for Pompeii, we felt that we got far more out of our visit than we would have done solo. Money well spent.

What a great tour. This site is nearly impossible to visit and get any details with out a tour. We learned things we never knew existed

Excellent tour with Brunella. Her knowledge and enthusiasm was fantastic and knowing she has been part of the discovery of the artifacts was interesting.

Most importantly when you join this tour, make sure you are in the right place. There are a lot of meeting places and a lot of tourists were quite confused. Our tour guide was Enzo. How fabulous. He had so much knowledge and passion. I am very pleased I booked this tour, and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
