Know More about this tour

Meet your guide in the afternoon at the steps of the museum. The path you trace will take you from our origins in the wild to the first stirrings of human civilization and the wonders of the Enlightenment. See the Rosetta Stone, a double-headed Aztec serpent, the Lewis chessmen, a mechanical solar system, the Parthenon sculptures, a statue of Ramesses II and the Holy Thorn Reliquary. These are just some of the artifacts you will use to travel through time. Through them explore how the agricultural revolution transformed our world, why people have gods, kings, money and writing, the role of germs, war and empire, and how humans have learned to question everything.

At the end of the tour you will have seen many of the museum’s highlights and will understand a little better why the world around you is the way it is. The tour will take a short break in the middle, during which you can buy drinks and refreshments and get to know your tour guide and fellow adventurers.

  • Wonderful tour - couldn't have asked for better. We were a small group 5 and Rossa was excellent - professional, knowledgeable and funny. He covered lots of topics from the clever perspective of Ideas that made our World and subjects we thought we knew were given a different and interesting slant. Highly recommended and far far better than just wandering around the British Museum gazing at all the different exhibits. Thanks once again to Rossa.

  • Great guide with lots of information and stories. Lots to see.

  • Our guide was so knowledgeable on all the art and related history - fascinating!

  • Please make sure you don and #39;t carry any baggage. There is no cloak room and they don and #39;t allow big back bags inside. The place was amazing

  • Great tour, great guide sorry, forgot his name. Everyone was happy that I booked the private tour and expressed great comments. The museum is too big for someone coming over first time for a few hours. We received a very good information on different topics and were able to ask lots of questions.

  • I believe my tour guides name was Sam and wow, he was clearly amazing. I learned more on this tour than I ever did in High School. He brought up topics and discussed them thoroughly and in a way interesting enough to make me finally understand what was said in High School. It was so interesting! Sam was so good- I could sit there and listen to him all day. He knew so much and you can tell that he actually liked and was confident in what he was saying. I could only imagine how much more I would learn if he could have shown us everything in the museum. Out of all my tours last week, this was the most memorable, appreciated, and worth every dollar.

  • This tour went beyond expectations! The British Museum is so big and it was so good to do this tour with other people and see all the best bits. The guides were really friendly and super knowledgeable. First class!
