Stop At: The National archives Museum, Washington DC, District of Columbia
Step through the doors of this majestic neoclassical building, considered a temple to American history. Follow your guide, starting at the National archives Rotunda to learn about the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution while standing in front of the perfectly-preserved documents from the 17th and 18th centuries. Alongside the Bill of Rights and the Federalist Papers, they all feature the signatures of world-famous statesmen like Alexander Hamilton.
Next, in the Public Vaults Exhibits, letters written by presidents including George Washington and John F. Kennedy are on display. The United States turbulent racial past comes alive while learning about the Emancipation Proclamation, which helped end slavery in the 19th century. More recent papers, like a citation issued to civil rights activist Rosa Parks, illustrates how long these racial issues lasted. Finally, in the Rubenstein Gallery, examine even older documents like the Magna Carta of 1297. Although it was written well before the Americas were even discovered by Europeans, it heavily influenced many of the other artifacts youll see in the National Archives.

En fantastisk guide som hadde en veldig balansert og underholdende stil med masse spennende og interessant informasjon.
If you book this tour. Ask for Richard You can’t visit DC without doing this tour. Miss at your peril. All three original US historical documents and Magna Carta in one place. I could of stayed on the tour for longer with Richard. Two hours isn’t long enough. The guide was very knowledgeable, engaging and what every guide should be Will look up again when back in DC. Six star tour
Brenda was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable with lots of “insider” stories! And skipping the lines was an added bonus!
Brenda our guide provided us with great insight to the documents we saw and the history surrounding them. She was thorough in following a timeline of historical events surrounding the formation of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights. A most interesting and engaging tour.
Our tour guide Brenda was terrific. Her storytelling really brought the history of our nation’s founding documents to life. Highly recommend a private tour!
Very informative! Our guide was great with our grandson and his stories kept the tour lively. We are very glad we took the tour!
We would have preferred to have a guide who was less chatty about modern movies and politics during our archival tour. Most of the time she would be speaking for 5-10 minutes in front of a display before we figured out how what she was talking about tied to the display we were in front of. This was after we were initially rushed through security. Not only did our guide not inform us cameras are not allowed (which were plainly hanging from our necks) she complained so much about us being slow we barely had time to take the stuff out of our pockets. She immediately headed toward the stairs and up while one of us was still at security. She was very kind in apologizing for her attitude at the beginning as she wanted us to have some time with the documents in the rotunda. Just don’t look at those other displays up there because they aren’t important. And she was kind enough to apologize as she was giving us *facts* about things currently under investigation. All in all bad opinionated and skewed tour.
We had a wonderful tour with Brenda! She was very knowledgeable and fun to have as a guide. We had our siz-year-old with us and she was very relatable for him in her insight. Thanks, Brenda!
Our tour of the national archives was informative and interesting. Brenda was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining! She is passionate and engaging to listen to. Highly recommended!!
Richard was our guide. He has a huge passion for the National Archives. He told some great stories and has some huge insight- he is a "regular" at the National Archives and knows many people in the building. RECOMMENDATIONS/INSIGHT: This tour lines up on the east side of the main stairs (on Constitution Ave)-- not the west side with general admittance. If you do the 10 AM tour, plan to be in line by 9:45 or 9:50. The guards admitted the fist visitors in the east line of registered tours before the general admittance line on our date. The main showcase rotunda room fills up very quickly. This was great for our teen-age children.
