Montenero, was famous among travelers backin the 18th century because of its stunning location and dark gloomy outline (from which it derives its names "nero" literally "black"), is today a renowned as a location of religious significance.
Montenero is also home to one of the most important sanctuaries in Italy, dedicated to Maria delle Grazie, patron saint of Tuscany. The sanctuary is located10 km (6.2 miles) away from the city of Livorno. It was built to celebrate a miracle performed by the Virgin Maryat the bottom of the hill. During the centuries, it became aspecial pilgrimage place, enriched by a deep sense of faith and religion.
You will be comfortably escorted from centrally located Livorno aboard a private air-conditioned minivan to the Sanctuary. You will have entrance access and free time to explore it on your own. At lunch time you will be escorted to a nearby restaurant where you will be served a delicious meal consisting of an appetizer, first dish, water and wine. Enjoy the splendid view over the promenade from the restaurant.
