Know More about this tour

This tour will begin in Old Ahmedabad where you will visit some of the most exquisite mosques in the country. The first will be the Jama Masjid. Built in 1423, this mosque is constructed with salvaged remains of demolished Hindu and Jain temples.

Next, you will visit the small Sidi Saiyad's Mosque which is noted for its beautifully carved stone windows which depict the intertwined branches of a tree. Your guide will also take you to the Shaking Minarets of Sidi Bashir's Mosque. In this fascinating structure, if you shake one minaret, the others resonate in harmony. However, their interconnecting terrace stands still. This mysterious phenomenon has increasingly given rise to an interest in the structure.

Deviating from Islamic architectural wonders, you will visit the Sabarmati Ashram. Lying on the western bank of the Sabarmati River, this ashram or abode was one of the residences of Mahatma Gandhi, significant for the peace that it continues to emanate even today. The site is preserved and has now been turned into a small museum where there are also pictorial records of the major events in the life of the Mahatma.

After Sabarmati, you will drive towards the Adalaj stepwell. Set in the quiet village of Adalaj, this stepwell or vav has continued to serve as a resting place for pilgrims and caravans travelling along the trade routes for many years. Built-in 1499 by Queen Rudabai, wife of the Vaghela chief, Veersinh, this five-storey stepwell served not only as a cultural and utilitarian space but also as a spiritual refuge.
