Perfect timing enough to enjoy tequila tacos and shopping one was very knowledgeable and did a great job keeping us informed during the border crossing
Thank you for a great experience
Juan was our driver and he was awesome. He explained everything and answered anyone’s questions. He knew exactly where to go to make
Our experience great
We were picked up in plenty of time at our Hotel. Our driver was Juan, nice fella and well educated with information along the drive into Mexico. Stopped at a shop for some Tequila tasting and also at a restaurant for some Beef Taco's, which were delicious. Had around 2 hours time to do some shopping around Tijuana. All round it was excellent!
I had a great time. I was a little nervous at first but Marco made it so pleasant. Showed us a lot of the history of Tijuana and never felt rushed in the shops and taking pictures.
This trip was not what we anticipated at all. It was good to get some commentary about areas of Tijuana, but as a tourist having never been to this country before, it was very daunting with an 11 year old daughter being dropped off on a street (without maps) and with very little direction, and the same applied when we were dropped off at the mexican border. We were somewhat disappointed, as we really looked forward to this trip.
Our guide Anna was great. Very informative and on point with suggestions. Just enough time to eat and shop, without getting bored.
I booked this trip as a solo traveler and had some worries about traveling to TJ. It was nothing but safe and friendly and I’m glad I went. The “snack” was chips and pico, two tacos and some beans and it was very filling. I’m vegetarian so I ate beforehand and I didn’t need to. They made a guac and cheese taco for me special, which was appreciated. I ordered a margarita and it was only $5.00 US. You get 2ish hours to walk around and explore and shop. I was able to bring back some Mexican candies and a bottle of tequila, both of which I paid with credit card so it was super easy. I would recommend this trip, but do not think this is a guided tour, you are on your own when shopping.
There was not enough people for my Baja California Coastal Day Trip so it was cancelled. Five Star Tours (the company that does both tours) offered to take me on the half day tour to Tijuana instead, so I did this one. The tour guide was okay. The tacos included in the trip were also just okay. The tour started late and I spent about 5.5 hours on this experience and only got 1.5 hours of fun in Tijuana. It wasn't all that bad, something to do if you have extra time.
I give 1 star for the travel and 3 for the actual tour part. The air conditioning wasn't working well in the van and my husband and I were crammed in the last row of seats. Very hot and uncomfortable. Could not here the guide most of the time. The shopping was ok, the food ok but was hoping for more history of the city and less touristy stuff.
We really enjoyed our half day trip to Tijuana.
We had already visited several Mexican ports on a cruise, so we wanted to visit Tijuana to compare the city to the coastal areas we had visited. It was very, very different! There is nothing picturesque about Tijuana - it is an urban sprawl, and it is a stark contrast to the beautiful San Diego which is just over the border, a mere 20 km away.
Our driver was very good, and he offered some commentary, and answered questions during the trip. The bus was very modern and comfortable with ample space for the five passengers on board.
We enjoyed a light meal in a Mexican restaurant in Tijuana and our driver then took us to a leathergoods shop the prices were great and a liquor store where we were able to taste and purchase various Tequilas. We were then free to wander the street and shop on our own for a couple of hours. We found the prices of handicrafts and clothing etc to be on par with the other places we had already visited in Mexico.
The border crossing was quick and easy on the way over but a bit longer on the way back. It was very interesting for us though, as we had never experienced a border crossing before.
Overall, I would recommend this trip to anyone who has never experienced Mexico. It's a fun afternoon and an easy trip from San Diego.
