Know More about this tour

Leave the hustle and bustle of Rome behind as you set off into the countryside by luxury coach on this guided full-day trip to Tivoli. A historic town lying east of Rome in the breathtaking Monti Tiburtina hills, Tivoli has been favored since ancient times as a popular summer retreat for wealthy Romans.

Tivolis top attractions are undoubtedly the magnificent and historical Hadrians Villa where you take a 1.5-hour guided walking tour. Explore the archaeological ruins of Hadrian's estate of more than 30 buildings, including a sprawling complex of imperial palace ruins, thermal baths, libraries, temples and underground passages wide enough for cars to pass.

Stop for lunch at a cafe (at your own expense) and head to Hadrians Villa (Villa Adriana) and Villa dEste.

Follow your guide through Villa dEste, a former Benedictine convent considered to be one of the most enchanting villas of the late Renaissance period. Hear intriguing stories from your guide and marvel at the famous Fountain of Neptune as you stroll through the villa's stunning gardens, featuring impressive waterfalls, centenary trees, and more than 500 fountains.

Then sit back and enjoy views of the Italian countryside as you head back to Rome. Your guide will be happy to answer any questions you have along the way. This day is sure to present you with unforgettable memories.

Our guide Joseph was amazing - very knowledgeable and helpful. Both sites were beautiful. The only thing I wish was clearer was lunch - we ended up owing money because it wasn’t clear what was the included lunch and what wasn’t.

We had a wonderful tour guide named Joseph. He was very knowledgeable and his English was good. I would have given the tour 5 stars but we had to take the metro to the end of the line to get the van. The tour said transportation to and from central Rome. Although the tour was great,, that was disappointing.

Your guide Giovanni was excellent. He was well informed but not pedantic or boring. He was able to answer all questions and explain the history and the relationship between Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este. He was also helpful with our mundane questions about matters like what to eat for lunch. Thanks to a Giovanni for a great experience.

Giuseppe was a wonderful guide! So glad we got him as many reviews mentioned him as a great guide. Enjoy!

This was a wonderful day trip out of Rome. Our guide, Guissepie, was funny and able to put everything we saw in historical, architectural and political context. That made the trip especially meaningful as we found the information at many sites in Rome not helpful. Definitely recommend.

We were very lucky to happen upon a day in November that was warm and sunny. We didn’t know that when. It is rainy, like the last 10 days, they turn off the fountains so that muddy water doesn’t gum up the works. They had been off until today. For some reason there was no crowds at either sight and it was if our group had the whole place to ourselves. Warm, sunny and no crowds... we had hit the trifecta!
The only downside was the lunch. We had 1 hour, 10 minutes and had paid in advance but it was 20 minutes before we got a drink, even water. When the food came it was cold and the 2nd course came so late that we had to eat fast just to keep schedule. A better idea would have been to find a nearby establishment and simply meet our guide at the agreed upon time. If. Puzzled that the restaurant was so overwhelmed by a scheduled tour ordering g a pre fix menu.
All else went swimmingly however was only long enough for Villa d’Este’s greatest hits. It really does deserve a whole day to wander and marvel.

Get to meeting point half an hour early, leave half an hour late, no guide on bus, tour guide seemed to know about as much about the sights as a perusal of a guide book the night before provided. Hadrian's Villa, was just walk half an hour in, walk back out. Wait an hour at a restaurant to be served, gulp the meal down in 10 minutes, We did get half an hour tour of Villa d'Este and another half an hour to explore the Villa d'Este before leaving to get back half an hour early. Tour guide was mostly interested in pleasing her boss by getting us everywhere early and having us wait, didn't know much about the sights.

These villa estates were so beautiful. It was great to learn the history as well as have time to walk around on our own. Would have preferred a little more time (perhaps 30 minutes) at each villa and less time in town/for lunch.

Our trip to the Villa d'Este and Villa Adriana was a full day trip leaving 9:30 am and returning to Rome in late afternoon 5:30 pm, Although promised heavy rain for this day we were happy the day cleared and we were able to take some splendid pictures. Our local Guide Giuseppe was a wealth of information and very knowledgeable of the surroundings.. If you wish to get our of Rome for a day trip, this is an easy pleasurable one to take.

Got off to a late start due to a bus malfunction, but out guide made sure to keep us informed of things and began his explanation of the day before we even started.
The ruins at Hadrian's villa are amazing in how much has been preserved, and the gardens and fountains at Villa d'este are not to be missed. We did not know what to photograph first.
