Know More about this tour

Cinque Terre is one of the most beautiful and famous stretches of coastline in Italy but it isnt the easiest place to get to. In this world-first day trip we take care of all the logistics so you can visit this incomparable region from Rome in a single, breathtaking day. Youll get around 6 hours on the ground in Cinque Terre.

Your day start early, catching the first high-speed train from Rome, along with a group of no more than 15 people and your expert tour leader. Take a nap and enjoy some breakfast onboard; with one small train change youll be in Manarola in less than 3.5 hours, here youll be greeted with a welcome drink (local wine) and a pesto tasting.

After a brief tour of the city youll make your way up to the start of the Strada del Amore (Lovers Road) to take a few photos from one of the most famous vantage points in Italy. Trust us, youll recognize the view when you see it.

Then its onto a boat, heading down the jaw-dropping coastline for 15 minutes until you reach Vernaza, the quaintest, and most authentic of the Cinque Terre towns. Along the way youll pass the tiny town of Corniglia and marvel at its incredible location perched high above you on a clifftop.

In Vernazza youll have roughly an hour to spend as you please. Take a walk with your guide, grab a snack, take in its old castle, or simply wander its narrow, winding streets. Then hop on the train for a short jaunt down to Monterosso - the biggest town in Cinque Terre.

Here you have almost three hours to enjoy a leisurely lunch, shop for souvenirs, or even swim in the ocean and lay out for a bit of sun.

After all this fun youll hop back on a train in Monterrosso and head back to La Spezia Centrale, then on to Rome.

  • When visiting Italy, this should be one of your first places to visit. The tour guide was great and would bring everyone treats to taste from the different villages. We got to visit three out of five villages. Depending on what you like, we would just find out the time and meeting spot and venture off on our own. I can read about the history on the internet. This is a 15 hour day between the traveling, etc. So if you want to get what you paid for ... climb what you can and see all you can. Your first stop off the train will be in Manarola. The next stop by boat is Riomaggiore. Riomaggiore is the best place to purchase souvenirs from all three villages. Beautiful pictures and memories. The last village you will get to visit is Monterosso. Delicious fresh seafood from this coastal area. Our main spot to start our tours from was Roma to visit all over Italy.

  • Great day trip. Your guide was very nice and helpful and you get a chance to see a lot in one day.

  • We did this day trip in September 2017 I would highly recommend it the tour guide was amazing and very well organised.Wear comfy shoes and be prepared for a long day but is well worth it.

  • Great Day trip from Rome. Take your swimsuit and enjoy the afternoon on the beach. The tour guild had everything worked out so we could travel there glitch free and enjoy the most time possible at each location.

  • A great way to see Cinque Terre if you're short on time. I was going to do this solo, but was concerned about organising my own trains and not missing them etc. So this eased my mind. Naturally it had a bit of a rushed feel to it, as we covered 3 towns plus 3 hours on a train each way, but it was definitely worth it. Our guide Pablo was friendly and full of information and tips. Definitely recommend doing this if you're short on time. Also only 8 people on the tour which made it more personal.

  • I'm really torn about how to rate this tour. The logistics of this day trip are challenging - a 5:35 am meeting time at Termini station not the safest part of Rome, and we couldn't book a taxi for that early on a Sunday morning...maybe our fault for leaving the taxi booking till the night before?. The group was relatively small 14 tour guide and we caught the train at 6:05 am, with a light breakfast included. Unfortunately, due to rough seas, the boat portion was not possible and we took the train between each of the towns. We had 30 minutes in Vernazza, about an hour in Manorola, and about 1.5 hrs in Monterossa. We got back to Rome about 8 pm. The towns are beautiful, the views spectacular. I just found that the day seemed to be mostly spent on trains or waiting for the group to gather to catch a train and not enough in each town to truly appreciate it. It was not very relaxing, bordering on exhausting. Would I do this trip again? Not sure. If I thought I would never make it back to Italy, I probably would just to be able to see such lovely little towns. But this is not an ideal way to see Cinque Terre, and really doesn't do the towns justice. Would be far better to do this as a day trip from Florence or other closer location so there is more time to really enjoy the visit.

  • Absolutely wonderful. The view were fantastic and the overall ambiance was simply amazing.

  • Definitely worth getting up early for. The day was picture perfect. The breakfast idea was great except the coffee place needs to figure out that the travel cups need to be stronger. All the coffees were leaking. We just all grabbed another empty cup and put a cup inside a cup so it worked out fine. I think Italy is still getting use to the travel coffee idea. :-

You do not stay long at each spot so you are watching your time throughout the day. Not sure that can be helped as it is just a day trip. I was disappointed that we only had one boat ride. The description noted two rides and seeing the land from the ocean was what I was looking forward to. Not sure why we took the train instead of doing the last boat ride. It may have been a timing issue getting back to Rome.

All in all a great day was had by all!

  • A great way to see Liguria and Tuscany on the train from Rome in one day. Mattia, our guide, was extremely articulate and provided details on history, geography, and pertinent information about the sights throughout the entire day ALL FROM MEMORY without needing to refer to reference books or websites, Mattia was very friendly and eager to provide each member of the group with the best experience possible. His expertise and passion for all things Italian made an already great day a phenomenal experience. Highly recommend this excursion to anyone!
