Know More about this tour

Leave Alcantara Harbor on a sailing barge. You will pass the tug boats pier and go out to the Tagus river sailing East, in the direction of Alfama. To the South, you'll see Christ the King statue and our Golden Gate Bridge and to the left, Estrela Basilica. You will approach Cais do Sodre, where old barges are used to unload goods for Ribeira market, from the South margin. Cork, fresh products, salt and wine were transported between the two margins of the Tagus River.

See Ribeira das Naus, where India fleets were built in the Age of Discoveries, and then see St. George's Castle, over Commerce Square. Enjoy a wine tasting and cod fish cakes on board. Then, sail upriver to Alfama, with views of Lisbon Cathedral, National Pantheon, St Vincent Monastery, and the old St Apolonia train station. Return to Alcantara harbor after your two hour adventure.

  • We booked this as a surprise for our sisters 21st birthday whilst visiting Lisbon. We would all highly recommend this tour as it was one of, if not the best thing we did whilst in Lisbon! Luis and Ricardo were totally brilliant and made us feel really welcome. They also gave us a fantastic guide to Lisbon and its waters. We learnt a lot! They are so passionate about keeping these traditional boats on that waters and it was such a great experience! They were so friendly and very fun, we had traditional Lisbon wine/liquor, delicious fish cakes that Luis' wife had made and they played us traditional Fado music which was amazing! They also sung to our sister in Portuguese and let her wear their skipper hat which was a great honor! We would really really recommend this!! you wont regret it!

  • Amazing. A different way to see Lisbon and learn about the sailing history. We were a group of 8 friends and were lucky to have the boat to ourselves. Sweet wine tasting was lovely and they kept on topping us up! The cod fishcakes were delicious we had several each so didn't need lunch until much later in the day. they allowed us to help steer the boat and sit up at the top of the boat which was great fun.

Quick note it was a little tricky to find but we called the number listed and they answered and helped guide us to their location.

  • If you are looking for a group tour on a big boat with a tinned English voice pointing out the highlights that you can see on the shore this is not the tour for you. This tour is for someone who wants an authentic Portuguese experience not just a pre-packaged tourist trap. There were only 8 people on the boat, and I believe that the other guests were all locals out for a Sunday afternoon. One of the hosts fielded questions and spoke predominantly in Portuguese, but the other made a conscious effort to sit with us and explain things in English. His English wasnt the tour guide English that we were used to, but was much better than our two words of Portuguese. The boat itself was very pretty and when we got moving, they brought out what looked like homemade fish cakes delicious! and wine for the guests, as well as bottles of water. The hosts were attentive and knowledgeable, and were very dedicated to making sure we enjoyed our trip. As I mentioned, if you want a boxed tour that caters to English, this might not be for you but if you are feeling adventurous, this is definitely a unique and enjoyable experience!
