Know More about this tour

This tour starts with an overview of the capital city, Port of Spain, which includes a visit to the bustling Independence Square with its’ imposing Central Bank and Brian Lara Promenade, the surrounding shopping streets, Parliament Building, Supreme Court and historic Woodford Square. Also the Queens Park Savannah – known as ‘the world’s largest roundabout.’ This 200-acre recreational park is lined with exotic trees and interesting colonial mansions with intricate architectural designs. The Magnificent Seven are the finest of these. After taking in the beauty of downtown Port of Spain, we'll drive through one of the northern suburb called Maraval. This takes us to the North Coast road that leads to Maracas Bay.

Just before approaching the bay we’d come to a lookout point. Here is where we take in the panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and the surrounding bays and even enjoy local snacks and freshly seasoned fruit, locally called “chow.” Next, we’ll arrive at the most popular beach in Trinidad, Maracas Bay, which is surrounded by lush green rainforest covered mountains, with a sandy beach lined with coconut trees.

This unspoiled Caribbean scenery is free of high-rise hotels and practically untouched by tourism. Taste a famous "bake and fish," a hot crispy fish sandwich with homemade bread. There are many different sauces from which you can choose, just beware of the very hot pepper! Note, this is not included in the tour price. Basic dressing rooms with changing and toilet facilities are available.

Next, the tour enters the busy suburb of St. James, where you’ll have astounding panoramic views (sometimes as far as Venezuela) at Fort George, which has an elevation of approximately 236 feet above sea level. Enjoy the spectacular views to this historical site where you have the opportunity to see the entire of Port of Spain and the west coast of the island.

Thought it was an average plus tour. Drove in a comfortable bus and hit a few highlights buildings and streets in the Port of Spain. We felt that minimum information was given on the highlights with little to no historical background given. Continued up a mountain road to Fort George which was great for an overall view of the Port of Spain. Remained on a mountain road with beautiful jungle type scenery with a photo overlook of the ocean on the North side of the island. Stopped at Maracas Beach which was not overly impressive. There was an operator offered upgrade to the tour, which all nine of us signed on for, we went to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary via a boat tour which was probably the highlight of the tour. Watching the scarlet ibis, snow egrets and an occasional blue heron return to the island area for feeding prior to sunset was pretty spectacular!
